Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yes that time of year again where clubs can supplement their teams is nearly upon us, usually a much quieter window than the summer one but thought it deserved a thread of its own.
Few done deals already in the premier league already despite the window not officially opening till january 1st.

    https://twitter.com/southamptonfc/status/547481552222162944

In europe dortmund have already agreed a deal to sign kampl and atletico are very much rumoured to be taking torres off milan in a swap deal for cerci who has not lived up to expectations thus far.

As a liverpool fan id love a goalkeeper who can goalkeep and a striker that can score goals, not too much to ask for?
Who is on yer transfer wishlist?

Elia is a good signing. Looking forward to seeing his trickery in the league.

DeAndre Yedlin is now joining Spurs as well after the summer deal. Smashing pull for Spurs, he's gonna have a fantastic career.

From a City point of view, a striker would be great. If the David Villa deal came through I'd be happy enough considering FFP and all that. Expecting a quite window before a massive summer spend.

Neto and Jackson Martinez to Liverpool please. Benzema too but that's just crazy talk.

    Chelsea

In - nobody i can think of. Barring a serious injury or two.

Out - Salah on loan maybe
Cech too, if he wants it.

Torres signing permanently for Milan despite only being a quarter way through his 2 year loan and having only scored once
    https://twitter.com/chelseafc/status/548909438648979456

Plays in with Milan looking to fob Torres off to atleti to get cerci?

The only reason I could see for that deal.

    They don't need a striker.

What they need is a centre-back and defensive midfielder.

For the price they'd spend on Cavani they could buy Ezequiel Garay from Zenit and Khedira from Real Madrid.

Seems like Can Can't,is it 4 games he's featured in since signing despite the "Gerrard Dilemma".

It's odd that Rodgers won't play him.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 40,061 ✭✭✭✭Harry Palmr

    Still wouldn't loan him.

Arsenal apparently interested in St Étienne's Perrin. The Carvahlo talk has resurfaced too with Arsenal supposedly making a 20m bid.

Also Khedira has not made his future plans clear to Real Madrid. Sounds like he wants to run down his contract.

To be honest if Gerard is going to be ahead of him in the pecking order then the loan would be a good chance to prove Rodgers wrong. I don't see him featuring much this season.

Don't think he can, I remember when Liverpool bought sturridge off Chelsea in January he could not play v zenit in the last 32 game as he played cl with Chelsea that season.

Think you can register 1 player provided it's not the same competition they played in, could have been changed though.

Podolski won't be leaving Arsenal for Inter according to Wenger!

Wonder if any panicking bottom of the table Premier League clubs will buy Daryl Murphy. 17 goals already for Ipswich this season

Maybe this has been discussed and I missed it. But Qatari club Al-Arabi seem to be employing a strange transfer policy that I hope doesn't take off among other rich teams in countries players don't want to play in. There is a group of investors involved in the club whose sole aim is to profit on transfers. They are signing young players and loaning them out immediately to clubs in big leagues for a loan fee, hoping that the player performs well and can also be sold on for a transfer profit later on.

The first player signed is Maxime Lestienne (22), a young Belgian player who they signed from Club Brugge in the summer for €10m. He was loaned out to Genoa in Serie A the day after they bought him. Lestienne was being chased by AC Milan before Al-Arabi offered €10m.

Second player signed is Nigerian striker Imoh Ezekiel (21) who joined for €8m from Standard Liege in the summer too. His case is a bit different as he is currently playing in Qatar. Some Belgian papers suggested that he might play there for 2 years to gain citizenship.

Third player signed is Paul-Jose M'Poku (22), who will be signed this month from Standard Liege. The transfer was supposed to happen in the summer for €8m, but they could not find a club to loan him out to so it was called off. They are attempting to find him a club in Italy or Germany this month.

They are all supposedly on salaries of €2.5m per year. They all came from the Belgian league where the average annual salary is around €0.4m.

That's not a new phenomenon though - there's always been 3rd party ownership particularly in South America where the end goal is the same; profit on transfers.

It's an interesting take on the concept; probably sailing close to the wind of trafficking! But from a business point of view; I think its creative albeit very very risky given the sums of money involved.

Cavani has been told he can leave PSG..
The French club have told Cavani he is free to leave at the end of the season after being left out of Laurent Blanc's winter training camp in Marrakech.

    http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/549869/Edinson-Cavani-Arsenal-Man-Utd-Liverpool-Chelsea-PSG-Summer-Deal

January bids coming from Premier League clubs I would guess.
