pumping wheel

    santa brought a bike. wheels wont inflate. has schrader valves. is there a secret to pumping them ?

    Did you open the valve at the top? Twist the little nut

    Sorry schrader or presta?

    Presta has the little nut on top, also if you have a track pump you have to lift the valve lever to seal it around the valve

    Your pump needs a centre thingy* to depress the pin in the valve. Some pumps automatically adapt to presta/schrader while others have an either/or head which you have to dismantle to swap over.

    *Centre thingy to be seen below...

    Alternatively, head down to the local petrol station and use their air line. Ignore the 'do not use this pump on bicycle tyres' notice but just remember it takes a lot less air to inflate a bike tyre.

    pump has centre thingy. went down to the garage. prob solved. thanks all
