studio series grimlock up for sale on amazon.com for $49.99

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072KD9T3H/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

with the import duties and conversion it worked out as 63.84 euro for me.

i SERIOUSLY doubt were gonna see this lad in bricks and mortar retail store here so this looks to be the best price so far for the guy. seeing as he's the only one from the line i want im more than happy to pay 3 quid more than a sixshot at retail for him.

dunno how long this price point will remain as all the other prices are in the late 70s and higher for him and the UK amazon site is looking for over a hunderd euro to get him.

anyway wanted to give the heads up.

That design is horrible. I still don't understand folks digging it! A horrendous bot/Dino mode. And a complete characterization miss for me!

speaking for myself its just how bang on it is to the film.

im not a fan of bays overly complicated take on the bots and cons and have picked up very few of the toys from those lines . oddly enough "revenge of the fallen" seems to have the honor of most purchase's despite it being CLEARLY the worst film in the franchise.

i just dug the asymetric thing they were doing then with bots like arcee , chromia and sideswipe with his wheel feet.

even if you HATE the designs you gotta admit this version is LEAGUES ahead of the actual leader class Grimlock toy that came out for "edge of extinction". the head sculpt alone in bot mode is amazing.

i doubt i'll even transform it that much TBH. Just sticking it on the shelf in bot mode next to "last night" leader megs. bar possibly a nitro zeus this lads probably going to be my last movie purchase.

as for character micheal bay has a PERFECT grasp of Grimlocks character......

...ok he keeps calling him "optimus prime" , but its a perfect Grimlock.

DCC has a boxed and a second hand Nitro Zeus in at the moment, one per store. They are understandably spendey. I'd be more inclined to wait for Studio Series Thundercracker and try a headswap with some Titans Return character.

amazons got snarl and sludge up for $16.99 which including shipping/tax is a little over €22 euro each.

i dont know why but for ages theyve been at a higher price point so i picked both of em up so i can have some volcanicus fun.

About 33 euro shipped by SAL, if you're willing to wait for it to turn up.

Everytime i've used registered SAL, customs have pounced on me. Even for low value items.

Dropped into Smyth on jervis St on way to work.

They've got voyager nitro zeus and scorn for 39.99 and studio series starscream.

Didn't expect the latter at all.

Oh and behind the counter they got on trypticon for 114 euro, so for that lad that was looking for him there ya go.

    EDIT.

meant to say went into toymaster too. they had a few leader megs going for 79 euro, and theyve a rake of the battletrap figs for 15 euro each. still no sign of leader evolution prime back yet though.

Potp leaders in Ken Black's. Wave 1.

picked up that nitro zeus and amazon delivered the last two dinos i needed for volcanicus.

snarl's a bit buggerd up. one of the ports is malformed and one of his spinal plates was bent out of shape but i could fix that with a little heat application.

    just finished combining the lads.

mother of christ its huge. he IS rather skinny from the side and he does lean forward but you can mess with the feet to sort that.

been using the extra fists to bulk him out like is suggested but have also used them to store the guns from slag and sludge (pointing up parallel to grims dino head) which looks ok, whilst i have him wielding the swords in each hand as daggers- so theres no superfluous kibble left over.

he looks great combined and the scale is impressive if youve got slash in raptor mode beneath him. cant advice getting him enough.

TBH its the first of the new combiners ive assembled (computrons still in the box) and if anything he's got me excited for abominus

just wanted to give a heads up.

was in smyths in tallaght today and they had leader class "tribute" optimus prime.

which IIRC is basically they one for the first movie back in 07.

    price point of 94.99.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,988 ✭✭✭constitutionus

just to slap in an update was in smyths in fonthill and theyve got 3 of the four terrorcons limbs in (blot, sinnertwin, and cutthroat)

no sign of Hungrrr but i reckon its only a matter of time as it'd be a bit daft to release the limbs without the body. they do have a rake of infernos .

no sign of snarl or sludge though.

    EDIT.

Oh by the way KAPOW have got those reissued legends LG-EX metroplex's in

    https://www.kapowtoys.co.uk/transformers-legends-lg-ex-metroplex-reissue-4890.html

with postage he's costing circa €285 which is really good value compared to what amazon is selling the hasbro release for. if you fancy taking a chance on him its prob worth watching to see if they do a sale down the road with him.

i checked smyths website as well and they have both ellita and hun gurrr listed. now we know from past experience that doesnt guarentteee anything, but with the limbs out it bears good for a release.

Kinda late arrival to this section of the forum, never even knew it existed. I was a massive Transformers G1 fan in the 80s growing up, and had every notable TF toy I could find locally - maybe 50-60 figures. The first one I ever got was (I think!) around 1984, when I was 6 - I saw Warpath in a shop and thought it looked cool. After that I was hooked on Transformers.

    latest?cb=20071213171812

Even got my hands on some (e.g. Constructicons/Devastator) which weren't sold locally, but via a specialised toy importer who was about 30 mins away and who brought them in from abroad - these were the original green ones from USA, not the yellow UK Hasbro re-release which came out later.Had a school friend who lived in USA for 2yrs with his family in primary school, and when he came back he had Soundwave & Ravage, Blaster, Omega Supreme and a few others we couldn't buy locally. Had great fun trading some with him.

Unfortunately I got rid of most of my G1 toys when I was a teenager and now regret it hugely!

I hate the term 'man cave' but I have such a room in my house, so have decided recently to get a few decent TF models/toys again - can't imagine my wife would put them on a shelf anywhere else so this is my safe space to do so :pac:

Have started off with this Generations Power of the Primes Optimus Prime figure. Hoping to pick up Megatron next. Like many, I'm not a fan of Bay's redesigns and IMO the G1 design (or at least influenced by G1 designs) aesthetics are the purest.

Transformers are that thing if you had as a child you don't seem to grow out of. Well, that's what I tell the other half. :)

Dublin city comics are having a half price sale on their second hand figures at the moment. So plenty of Robots on that list.
