If you know that Tesco then it's a 20 foot walk from the toy aisle to the scanner to see if whatever is on sale there is worth grabbing multiples of when doing the weekly shopping. Not really shopping around so much as just making sure that the price hasn't gone up without updating the shelf. Been stung by that in the past and found it irritating.

No idea how I missed your post previously, sorry.

It's more just generally trying to reduce my toy spending if possible. Brainstorm is actually one of the few figures I definitely won't be getting, he just doesn't appeal to me for some reason. I'm not pushed about Takara stuff either, after getting some Prime Deluxes and having to deal with stickers. Looking at the sites listed by ChopShop for Hasbro releases they're just not worth it. Maybe if I just wanted Takara releases they would be.

Smyths has had a price increase on the Deluxes for RID. Not sure if the bigger guys went up. As I hadn't really given them any consideration as bits to pick up.

Some Evil Primes make it to Dublin city comics and collectibles this weekend.

Not a fan of this Mold at all.

They had a bunch of interesting ideas when they designed the Orion mold.. The final product however just feels a little unresolved, clunky even. If you're not mindful of the transformation order, there is some risk of damaging it.

And TWs QC is hit and miss at least up to their DiNOTbots.

Tesco Jervis Street has the remaining Beast Hunters Deluxes on sale for €6.75. They've only got one Soundwave, a few Ratchets and a buttload of Skystalkers left though.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,144 ✭✭✭MarkHall

And that's great for the UK folks. Or will be Shortly.

But for those in Dublin There is the opportunity for them to have em now.
    Hence the Share.

It's a likely positive for Irish folk too, because Hasbro UK supply Irish retailers.

Aside from which, it's important this thread doesn't become too focused on one location. Or source.

Smyths just bumped the price of CW DXs to 22.00. On the face of it, that's not so positive, but at more recent exchange rates that comes out at about what they're charging in the UK.

It's not out of the question that this adjustment is to take account of the price of new stock.

One UK retailer indicated about 10 days on Wave 2. We'll see how long it takes for new stock to appear at Smyths branches. Dublin and elsewhere.

First seen at branches of Ken Black and now reportedly some branches of Smyths.

Random Generations Voyagers from last year

    Skybite, Rhinox, Whirl, Springer, Roadbuster.

Price was said to be 31 euro each

YMMV on these, haven't seen anything in person to verify

Mentioned this last week. In simular vein Smyths in belfast also sprout generation voyagers.

And has it in your opinion?

Or is it the fact that the number of stores providing changey Robots is limited. So the focus shall most likely be on the same few locations.
    Until the market picks up.

Only one I think we're missing is Forbidden planet. But I havn't seen whats on their shelves in a while.

Doesn't seem to be much of a secret that Forbidden Planet don't carry much in the line of TFs these days. I wonder what would cause them to reconsider?

As long as there is a multiple of locations.
Changey robots, CW Wave 2 is only starting to filter through to the US. Odds seem good Deluxes and Voyagers will be on shelves here in a few weeks. Leaders.. We'll see. RID.. i don't know, are Drift and Optimus the most recent releases here and in the US as well?

Changey robots that look like characters we've seen before, but aren't 'real' , or the ones that are real and come with a higher wholesale price 'because' ...They seem scarce almost by definition and people will likely end up doing their own homework on those. Whether they buy locally, or buy from the Internets.

Forbidden Planet just had a bunch of BH shelfwarmers last I looked, but they also had the Arms Microns blind bags in way back so worth checking occasionally I guess.

Never thought I'd see it but generations voyagers in smyths. Sky Byte, Springer and Roadbuster. All a bit over priced but still...

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,144 ✭✭✭MarkHall

There appears to have been some hidden Vein of that Generations wave discovered. It's popping up all over the place.

Springer is well worth getting he's a great figure. May pop in and nab a second one. So he can Duel wield some swords.

TBH 30.99 is the cheapest I've seen them basically ever. I may grab Roadbuster soonish unless Air Raid turns up first.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,144 ✭✭✭MarkHall

Roadbuster comes with pros and cons.
Con he's hard to line up in Buggy mode.
    Pro you get Wrecker stickers.

  • Registered Users Posts: 132 ✭✭AxlF

I have Springer already - I bought him for €16, delivered, from Amazon in 2013 (just checked my receipt).
It's great that he's available as he is an amazing mould and has a great transformation (btw, If anyone has a Cloud Rodimus for sale, please let me know), it's just sad that it is so long after his actual release and that it is so expensive for what is now, basically, clearance stock from the US market.

Roadbuster and Skybyte are the same - being more niche characters these are just units they cannot shift in the main market so they come over here. These prices are still way above the US price but not as much as Springer and I can understand it as they are relatively recent and the Irish shops have to have a mark-up.

I'm a fan of Roadbuster. He's big and clunky, with great ratcheting and about 100 guns. He's a solid robot and has a fun, intuitive transformation. I'd definitely recommend him - but only after buying Springer, everyone should have a Springer.

Smyths in Swords just has Whirl and Rhinox on the shelf as far as I can see. There's some extra Rhinox hiding stuff on a top shelf, but I couldn't see around them at all.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,988 ✭✭✭constitutionus

    Same in tallaght.

near fell over seeing whirl , rhinox , and skybyte (only ONE of the latter). they havent had any of the thrilling 30/ genertations voyagers at all from what i can recall.

going for 30 quid for those interested.

i'll prob pick up the whirl, but i have to say that rhinox looks incredible. fair play to them on the design front there.

That's pretty decent value for Smyths, trying to clear the shelves ahead of the next wave maybe?

Yeah - so that's a complete Superion (granted, with dragstrip) for under €90.
That seems pretty good... I don't really like Silverbolt but Superion looks pretty good. Might be tempted.

Superion's very cool looking, looks well on the shelf. Will look better once he loses the yellow arm!

TRU UK reduced CW prices so Smyths followed suite.

Next wave of DXs has supply issies in the US, but apparently they're due for a Hasbro UK release next month (?)

There were reductions on RID too, but i dont pay much attention to kt tbh
