Wish him and the team well, but he cannot be the big name the CB promised would show Tipp were serious about being a dual county.
Maybe thats a good thing.
Getting us into Div. 2 has to be his main and only goal, nothing else matters.

Hope this goes ahead , meant to be ratified last night but didn`t happen . Think Kearns is the right man to drive us on . When he took over with Limerick he started with the Under 21`s and built the Senior side from there . He`s coming here with the ground work already done , exciting times ahead !

I remember being very impressed with him on Celebrity Bainisteoir a few years back. He strikes me as a no bull****, all duck or no dinner type. Seems like a lad who would have great pull with players too.

He done quite a good job with Aherlow too when they pushed Dr Crokes all the way back in 2010. Very unlucky

Sorry only spotted the link there.ya id be happy enough now with willie.done good with the minors couple of years ago and liam cahill seems to be doing a good job with the minors now.

Interesting role for Billy...badly wanted too.

Glad to see Maher brought back into the fold. He'll be a future senior manager.

John Madden, Fanning, and Declan Fanning - three defenders - that will be a big change in mindset from the previous regime. I hope its a tempered approach rather than a reactionary one. It'll be interesting to see if Padraic Maher will be played 6 and will an alternative be tried and if so, who. Midfield has to be reinvented and again, who. I'd like to see Bergin and Breen there but we might see Breen in the center or full. Maybe, we might see the Bonner at midfield...certainly, has the engine and disruptive elements to make an impact. I'd like to see Barry and Breen hold the back spine. or given an opportunity to do so.

Be interesting to see the panel that develops over the winter...

Dont think id like to see paudie at 6.would love to find a centre back and have paudie and brendan either side of him.does breen play centre for his club?wouldnt mind leaving barry at number 3 and we have good options for corner back ala cahill,barrett,saint,foxy and ronan maher although he done very well in the half back line last year.2 or 3 ball winning forwards and some options at midfield is what we really need to be uncovering.anyone following the club championship this year that has seen anyone worth being looked at?any of the nenagh lads?

to win an all ireland would be great but in reality we need to find a centre back, 2 midfielders and at least 2 big tall forwards.
Big ask for Michael Ryan, but hopefully he has been working on a plan for the last year.

A committed Buggie in terms of his lifestyle, yes. He's a machine when fully fit and dedicated. But, he's not - so, no point.

Ya its a pity though isnt it.i always liked buggy(hence my username)really thought he would push on.always had a good eye for a point or two as well and always gave his all.

It's frustrating because he has all the natural attributes and talent. It's up to him - he obviously doesn't feel the commitment is worth it. He's an amateur, and can live his life whatever way he wants. No room for any kind of half measures - dual roles, over commitment included.

I dont see why not.
micheal ryan needs to build a centre forward line that are big men, ball winners, but also good defenders.

He will have his work cut out for him.

i know he is gone a while,but at just 26 would seamus hennessy be able to give intercounty hurling another shot,i see he was back playing midfield for his club this year and the match reports always mentioned him as standing out,i know he came back in 2013 and broke down so would it be pointless trying again,because if he didnt pick up these injuries i think he was going to become an awsome player,he had it all,strenght work rate and an eye for a score and a good dead ball specialist and he is the type of player we are crying out for in midfield

Well, if O'Shea tried his younger brother and wouldn't try his older brother - because he knows them both and all the craic. They're all clubmen - which means O'Shea knew how uncommitted Buggy is...

Buggy will not play intercounty for Tipp again - unless, he has a serious rethink of his commitment.

Agree wholeheartedly with this. We've taken half measures all of these years. No more. It has to be all duck or no dinner if we are to beat the Cats.

If his knee could hold up to playing midfield at club level you'd have to imagine a training routine could be designed specifically for him to give him a shot.
It's probably too risky a strategy for any management team to invest in considering his injury history but i'd love to see him get back as a reward for all the **** he's gone through. Pretty inspirational young man and someone you'd always be rooting for

i know a guy that his brother is on the kilkenny panel and he told me that micheal fennelly training routine is different to the others due to his back problems and sometimes his ankles even between matches he does very little training,it doesent seem to effect his performances on the pitch as we can see he is one of the best midfielders in the country

That's true - but that depends on the extent of the injury. Back is different to knee, and in fairness the extent of Fennelly's while niggy and consistent have never seen him forced out of the game for the long periods that Seamus was. He's had at least two major knees injuries. Do you think as committed and serious a player as Seamus Hennessey would quit if there was any possibility?

Now, maybe, he could be managed to play a stand up forward role for Tipp - but, that just does not fit around inter-county game plans at the moment. Where forwards are back helping backs and constantly moving...

Playing at club level is MILES away from what Tipp are doing.

Also, Fennelly had years and years of preseasons and full season campaigns built up - had a natural fitness built up. Seamus got his injuries very young. Fennelly's injuries are wear and tear over the years, like Eoin Kelly. It's not the same type of injuries - different case.

You're talking about a former all-ireland senior and under 21 winning player and under 21 hurler of the year. Who just always found a way to win no matter what team he was on - a leader and intelligent hurler. Colossal loss to Tipp hurling - but it would be Rocky film stuff for him to come back and play with Tipp...

When was that quote, it sounds similar to one I read from him in 2014 when he talked very openly about his injuries and how he was playing full back for the club because he hadn't mobility for any other position. From that interview I took it to be that his knee would never improve significantly but if he has progressed to midfield then it shows improvement.

Completely agree that it would be a comeback of rockyesque proportions but if he could stay healthy I do believe he could be managed in a manner that would give him a shot at intercounty. Improbable but not impossible

I think Tipp would be better off giving experience to and developing talent that is injury free and fresh in body for the long term - If Seamus got back to where he was he'd have to kick on again to make the team because he was never starting for Tipp as a regular in the championship.
