Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Will we ever see Messi in the premier league?

Rumours of the rich clubs looking to bring him here. It would be amazing to see him here but I just couldn't see it happening, the transfer fee would be obscene for a 27/28 year old. Man united would be the only club with the finances available I'd imagine.

Surely he would like a change he has done it all and won it all. Proving to the world he could do it in another top league like Ronaldo has would make him undoubtedly the best player of our generation.

    Could Chelsea not afford him?

I reckon they could afford him along with City but FFP would be huge in that transfer happening

That would hold back city, but ii thought Chelsea were doing well regarding ffp?

More chance of seeing me in the premier league.

I could only picture him in a City shirt tbh with Aguero right next to him. It'll never happen though.

They are doing well as in they are just inside the limits IIRC, but buying Messi for 125 plus million will change that drastically.

    Utd could afford him.

That's the thing, I guess. That fee and wages would be an enormous cost. Could any team in Europe pull it off?

In fairness if buying Messi was even 1% possible, any team in Europe would do anything in order to pull it off...selling three or four big players would be a no brainer tbh.

Messi would generate massive income streams for any club able to afford him

i would not worry about ffp

I guess we're talking Man City, Man Utd and Chelsea, then.

Outside epl, PSG, Munich... that's it, I'd say.

    Short answer .... no.

Any revenue he'd bring in wouldn't make a jot of real difference compared to the price to being him and the wages.

No, I think he would rather serve in Heaven than reign in Hell so to speak.

no cant ever see him leaving barca , and if he does hel probably go back to Argentina to Newell's Old Boys when hes in his late 30's :)

Abramovich would bank roll it if he thought there was a chance of Messi being avaiable.

Messi is the one player he has wanted since he took over Chelsea.

Unless it's Spurs after they get sold for a billion.

Rumour has it he'll be joining his fellow countryman Esteban cambiasso at Leicester in January.

Trading sunshine and trophies for cheese and onion crisps. A no brainer really.

Then he will never face the greatest test the sport knows.

(Unless Stoke make Europe, happen to draw Barca and it's raining)

If known voyager Ibra didn't have to head to England/Wales a player like Messi certainly won't.

If he ever leaves Barca it would be for Bayern I think. I don't think he will ever leave Barca though, definitely not for the PL.

If Guardiola ever goes to City I could see Messi there for a season or 2

He'll never come to us. I'm from Manchester, and I love the place. But why would he leave Barcelona to come to Manchester? He has more money than he can ever spend (recent legal "difficulties" notwithstanding), and he's worshipped by the Catalan people. No, I just can't see it.

And anyway, we need a decent CB more than we need Messi.

He would probably go over to America or Qatar after Barca.

Why would he go to an inferior league. Doesn't need the cash.

Imagine his wages in England too? Would probably have to be north of 500k a week

I don't know why this conversation pops up. Messi will never ever leave Barcelona barring some massive fallout which I can't see happening.

With Bartomeu and co. in charge anything is possible.
