MacBook pro turns itself off

for some reason, my macbook pro keeps turning itself off lately.

i had Skype on one day and had the laptop placed on a wooden table and when i moved the laptop slightly, it turned itself off. it wasn't hot or anything, nor had it been on that long.

then just there now, i turned it on, have it sitting on the handle of the couch, and i pulled it closer towards me, and it turned itself off again.

anyone know why this could be?
