Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Wanted this summer

    - one sh1t hot Striker (to compliment and/or stand in for Sturridge)
    - one sh1t hot central midfielder to partner Can
    - one sh1t hot goalkeeper with cool hands

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,315 ✭✭✭Soft Falling Rain

It would be madness to dump Skrtel now. Him and Lucas both need to be there next season TBH.

Its not their scouting team that's impressive - its their youth coaching! I think LFC will be reaping the developments of the last 5 years at Melwood over the next 5 years or so.

Might be an optimal time to start getting Rossiter more into the squad.

Ojo, Rossiter and Philips or Wilson for the matchday 18 wouold be good. Next season when Ibe comes back I'd love to see Ojo go to Derby for the season. I reckon he'd thrive under McClaren.

Wouldn't say the player has to be that old, but we absolutely do need to look at bringing in a top quality, proven player. Looking around in world football right now, the best player to fit into that criteria looks to be Pogba at Juventus, unfortunately, he is well out of our price range.
If we want a marque signing that has the experience and will also solve the midfield problem then we should be looking at the likes of Sergio Busquets. He's only 26 and has won everything there is to win in football.

Yeah good shout, he won everything there is to win in the game so i'd say he'd be happy enough with his lot now and would be open to come to us to win fck all.

The problem there is that if Sergio Busquets became available pretty much every top side in Europe would want him.

The other problem is that Barca have a transfer ban until Jan 2016 and couldn't replace him. Not that they could replace him anyway.

Khedira is a free agent soon isn't he. We should be all over that IMO.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,366 ✭✭✭✭8-10

There's a few young Brazilian midfielders still at Shakhtar despite the political turmoil and stadium issues. Surely there's an opportunity to look at the likes of those players?

This won't come as a shock but Liverpool will not be loaning out Emre Can to Moyesie

He would probably try & turn him into a Fellaini. Can should be a mainstay in our team.

Anybody think it would be worth bringing Reina back from Bayern ,they must be nearly out of wurst over there by now and he could be looking to play football again.

They're out of wurst because Pepe has eaten it all...have you seen him lately?

Reina is finished. Happy to settle for the #2 spot at Bayern & pick up his wages.

    That is shocking re. Reina.

I think because Gerrard has come to an end naturally it's not bothering me at all.

Losing Suarez, and Torres before him was far worse, as it was obvious especially with the former that the team would be much weaker without him

Must have been on to Enrique.

Ironic that someone that wanted the "Thank" function removed 2 days ago got post of the day yesterday.

Wasn't that photo re Reina posted a few months ago?

Unless he hasn't moved far which is a possability given the size of that belly

Bayern better hope Neuer doesn't injured.

Why would we go back for Reina, he's by far past his best. We were right to sell him and get another goalkeeper in. Just because Mignolet is a bit of a dud doesn't change that.

You'd have to think Cech will be moving for first team football somewhere.

    Why?

Pepe looks like he can cover both sides of the goal and the middle too, without even moving.:P

I think brininging in Mignolet to keep Reina honest /have Reina there to keep Mignolet honest would have been a far better strategy than selling Reina.

We need two keepers we barely have one at the moment ,just thought he would be cheap and might have something to prove. I would love a better keeper to come in but struggle to see who is available and we could secure with out over spending and taking funds away from a Midfielder and a striker.

Sad seeing Reina like that, he gave up years ago imo. More concerned with playing class clown than prolonging his career.

No chance he's going to LFC imo

I don't think the club/manager want marque signings/experienced players. In the summer they were happy to accept offers for our experienced players which suggests that they want to develop a new group of players.
I believe a young player will run through a barbed wire fence for you. An older player looks for a hole in the fence, he’ll try and get his way through it some way, but the young player will fight for you.

What makes the Gerrard thing retiring is the fact that from may onwards the only place you will be able to see him in a Liverpool shirt is on YouTube And that's kinda sad . He is on par with Kenny as the greatest player to ever play for the club .

More of a yesteryear thing but the 1-11 shirt numbers will and probably be mostly vacant come summer

1-jones- nowhere near the level required, could and should be sold
2-johnson-like gerrard, in the last 6 months of his contract and free to speak to foreign clubs, will hopefully leave.
3-enrique-massively out of favour and with some good full backs in the academy could well be sold. Cant have too much remaining on his contract.
4-toure-again like gerrard and johnson is free to speak to foreign clubs as he has 6 months left on contract. Not much word of it being extended
5-aggers old number, still free to take
6-initally albertos number, now taken by lovren. Probably one of the few playes on the list that will still be here.
    7-still vacant after suarez leaving
8-gerrards number 8 becomes free for the first time in ages, this will be interesting to see who he takes.
9-lambert-bar torres the 9 shirt has largely been a miss for a few years now, ricky is a fine back up plan b. could still be here next season more then likely
10- coutinho-almost certainly will be here
11-assaidi, one of the oddest signings in recent times and is not wanted. Probably will be off in the summer.

Bit mad when you think about it.

They might go America all over our as$es and retire the number 8 shirt.

So what your saying is next season will be a rebuilding one aswell.

How many rebuilding seasons are we going to have.

Numbers mean fcuk all these days.

Aspas and Lambert have taken the last two 9 shirts. The two of them together wouldn't even make half a 9!

I'd happilly do away with the numbers tbh!

    Two
this one and the next ,then domination like you have never seen.

    our years!

Yeah. FSG are buying potential because they are not willing to go down the Andy Carroll route again. With the results of that spree, i don't blame them tbh.

We will have a very young squad next year but i expect there will be additions of experienced players in a few positions, similar to Toure.

Carroll was bought as potential too. Wasn't he only 21 or something?

The only problem was we paid about 20m too much
