Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Good solid dose of Rodgersball there. Good draw for the next round now.

Typical fa cup game against lower opposition, another sloppy goal though. Gerrard and markovic were very good, cou was wasteful, but had moments. Should have scored a few more but hey ho. Onwards.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 40,061 ✭✭✭✭Harry Palmr

    blah blah blah

    Liverpool get through.

Some amount of waste though - Markovic, Can, Hendo,

Lambert simply has no place in a team that has no interest in playing his type of game.

We should look to sell Lambert. Way out of his depth.

I imagine that's pretty likely alright but if we have the option and money, he's only behind Courtois and De Gea in the league as far as I'm concerned.

Liverpool don't have the money if it's between them and PSG.
In fairness why would Lloris move to Liverpool. Hardly a big step up?

Thought Sakho did well tonight, got up well and won a few headers when under pressure at the back stick

Playing Lambert for the last ten minutes in a game makes sense, him starting games is madness.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,901 ✭✭✭Raif Severance

It's a Sad State of Affairs that we have to Pay more, just to get back a Player we own, Early from Loan.

But we have to do it, if its the only Alternative and we're being Cheap in January.

Balo and Lambert just doesn't Work, with the System and the Players we have.

Yeah, Origi may stll be Raw, but I'll gladly take him now over those 2.

Two seasons in a row we will probably sell our top scorer
    Ambitious my arse

Lambert adds nothing to our play. Nothing.

BBC is a Gerrard wankfest. To be fair he won us the game.

How much are we selling him for again?

Markovic did quite well. Needs to work on keeping the ball. Was bullied off the ball too easily.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,983 ✭✭✭✭NukaCola

    Our team has great character......

Lazor coming on a bit now, pity he didn't put that chance away.

Sakho and skrtel looked better but still the odd wobble.

Couthinio some flashes of magic but didn't look up for it early on.

Stevie shows the young lads how its done but it was only AFC Wimbledon.

Same people will be missing when he spends a game getting bypassed in midfield.

Lol, suarez wanted out and we got a stupid amount of money, gerrard isn't being sold? Has it occurred to people that gerrard might just want to leave?

IDEA! Don't put him ask him to run the game from midfield, put him a bit further up the field where he is so effective. And don't try & play him in nearly every game.

Wee Jay making a triumphant return to Anfield with Bolton. He'll probably score and get Man of the Match.

Not tall enough to head in an OG from a corner ....or have his elbow reach high enough to catch Can in the face

Really think when Gerrard leaves we'll be at a proper precipice. Could easily fall into mid-table for the foreseeable future.

The clubs needs to handle this transition right & replace with genuine quality & ability that will be able to attract players, fans to the team and grab the team by the scruff of the neck when occasionally required.

    Which you know we won't.

This more than Suarez will show FSG's true intentions for the club.

We'll end up with Will Hughes...

Sure we did that with Gerrard here.

I don't think we'll go lower than the 5th-7th bracket we have typically been in the last 5 years. We will still have a lot more money than any team likely to finish outside the top 7, and finishing properly midtable like you suggest will mean that Rodgers gets sacked, the next lad comes in and does equally as bad as well. If you think that's the case then there is no point replacing Rodgers if no one else will do better then is there?

jesus christ we aren't letting the Gerrard of 5 years ago he has looked average enough for a while now. He will be 35 soon and he isn't ready to sit out some games so he's going to MLS where he will hope to start week in week out.

    Less of the hyperbole alan.

Bit weak to shift all the blame off of him like that, especially given how much of a 'revelation' he was in the position last season, and how he was one of England's best players at recent tournaments in a deeper position.

And he's willing to walk away over reduced game time so it is at least partially his fault he's not being used properly.

Our recent transfer record certainly would be a huge worry.

But surely the relevant powers at the club realise that replacing our greatest ever player is a task we simply must get right. No "gambles", no "potential", no "performance related" contracts....just proven quality.

4 goals in two games... But at this stage, It's Gerrards presence at the club that will be missed

I reckon Mignolet has some personal issues, an ill parent or relative...........addicted to gambling or brassers maybe, there's something wrong anyway.

The Wimbledon goal was effectively due to him coming for a ball and not getting it, should have punched it towards half way line or anywhere at all not goal bound. Poor decision to try and catch it in a crowded area with physically imposing types about.

The silver lining is he should be easily improved upon.

He's already been replaced. His replacement was starting in the centre midfield this evening.

Shaky performance and I know it was a league 2 side but with Lucas and especially Henderson in the middle, it makes all the difference to the balance. Gerrard does what Gerrard does best when played in his best position, free role attacking midfielder. What a freekick. If only the team hadn't so many problem areas, maybe that contract extension would have been signed a long time ago:( Unfortunately we can't afford that luxury now which is pathetic really considering what he still can add to the team.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,592 ✭✭✭brevity

When Gerrard goes, will there be anyone at the club that has won anything of note?

Balotelli? Johnson & Skrtel maybe. Would not describe them as leaders.

We need to start signing winners. We should be all over Khedira IMO.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,564 ✭✭✭✭OwaynOTT

Liverpool won't fall away without Gerrard, in fact I reckon the next 10'years will be more successful than the last ten.
Bookmark this and we can see who's right in ten years, as I assume we will all still be here in ten years on our 50 millionth super thread.

    Who Jordan Henderson?
I'm a big fan, but he is not a sufficient replacement for Gerrard.

Henderson & Gerrard worked very well in midfield together last season-hardly a replacement  Henderson needs a top class partner to come in & play alongside him.
