Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

There's a documentary somewhere about the nano, worth a watch. Explains a lot of the 'styling'

    From Wikipedia
    Crash safety

In 2014 a Nano was crashed for NCAP by ADAC in Germany. Despite Tata's claim that it was expecting 4 stars, the Nano actually achieved zero stars.[40]

    Nissan Micra

Although an improvement over the previous frog eyed model (2003 to 2009), it still is bizarrely ugly!

I don't think that Micra looks terrible, especially considering the last one.

Just cheap and bland looking, not ugly.

With Micra's it's more the people who drive them and how they drive them...

Pretty much the same with all Datsuns

I can accept the Ypsilon as a Lancia.

But its not a Lancia its a Chrysler. If you look at the version that is sold in some parts of Europe and badged as a Lancia you will see that there is some differences like the grill bars are vertical instead off horizontal and there is some other minor detail changes too. Fiat would not sell any of the new Lancia's here or in the UK as they thought the brand would not be familier any more to people here and thought they would sell more if they were sold as Lancias. How wrong were they. They should have sold them here as Lancia's through Fiat dealerships. They would have saved some money not having to do the minor changes to the cars and also might have sold more.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

The Nissan Joke/Puke depending on what you like to call it! Ugliest front end I've ever seen.

On a side note, can anyone tell me which one of the many many lights on the front are actually the headlights?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,478 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

    The round ones.

Indicators and parking lights up top.

  • Registered Users Posts: 384 ✭✭Turtle-TM

So the ones that are at eye level of other drivers are the headlights...clever stuff Nissan!

I did meet a 2014 puke the other week, headlights, fogs, and led drl's on. I didn't know what the hell was coming down the road!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,285 ✭✭✭Frankie Lee

I like the Juke's styling, better to have manufacturers being imaginative. If they were all like VW then no progress would be made.

Not really any different to any other SUV.

I think the Hyundai I30 is a desperate bland looking yoke.

I think the Rapid estate looks okay. Its not one I'd pick out as being ugly per se. That Micra above on the other hand...

It has to be said that compared to early Hyundais from late 90's to mid 00's, there has been a design revolution there.
They truly where desperate, the Elephant Man of cars.

Baby seat will not fit in a 911.

    Yes it will..
I have a baby seat and a booster in mine:)

Must be a small baby. I once was unfortunate enough to be in the backseat of a 911, going from Tralee to Ennis. It is a journey I would have gladly made on a moped instead, cramped is not the word.
Mind you, that was a 1976 911, I don't know if the newer ones are any better.

I can't speak to the older cars never having owned one, although at 2002 mine is not exactly new either..

I have two boys, 18 months between them. When they were both small enough to be in prams etc they were both in the back in full on baby seats and I had plenty of room in the front.

Now they are four and five but very tall, 6/7 yr old height and both still fit with ease. My older taller lad in a booster in the front passenger seat and the younger lad in a high back booster directly behind him.. No problems.

Occasionally my wife is also in the car and then she takes the front passenger seat and the older lad sits behind me and I may need to move forward a little...

But I find it fine, and won't be selling it any time soon to buy a bigger car : )

They even make a pram specifically to fit in the luggage compartment

I believe the new 911 is more spacious inside again, but I'm not fortunate enough to have first hand experience...

Of course there is always a more practical spacious car available, but I'm not that concerned about either

    Skoda Fabia estate

I don't understand the point of a small car estate like the Fabia, Clio, Ibiza.

A tall and narrow car is never going to be sexy or even that practical over a regular hatchback like a Focus or a Golf.

I think it looks more peculiar than ugly. Definitely not pretty from the rear though!

    Mitsubishi Spacestar

Unusual to see a car these days with lever style door handles, does nothing for the style of this car though!

It must be way cheaper to build than the Colt it replaced. Its a backwards step.

The Indian market is booming at the moment, we will start to see more and more cars aimed primarily at the indian market filter over here as budget cars.

You could stick a Lancia badge on that and nobody would know any different.

I was taken aback by it, it has all the potential to be horrid - a 4 door porsche, it shouldn't work.

If I was looking for a big 4 door saloon to do big miles it would be one of them (in Diesel guise).

I still can't get my head around it. A diesel Porsche.
I had to google it to see if such a thing existed. It does:

    Porsche_Traktor_Diesel_Super.jpg

Though it seems to have more of a single-seater, front-engined, rear-wheel drive layout, more along the line of a classic single seat racer.
