Yea - Going to chance the half again this year. Might give a sub 1.45 a lash too.

What pace group will you be looking after??

Pacing sub 3. Will hopefully have a nice group with me. Anyone here targeting 2:59?

Didn't really have a plan in mind for Limerick but seeing as you're doing the pacing for that group, I'll tag along (for how long remains to be seen!).

I'm in - doing my second marathon and aiming to break 4 hours.

€75 with the booking charge so I'm looking forward to a very well organised race around Limerick!

Is there pacers for the half also? I'm doing a 'do the distance' run in BallyBunnion this weekend, but I'd like to hit around the 2,00 mark for Limerick.

Not from these parts. If I where to go for a 1:30 he would be top of my list for the job.

    Hi Thepiedpiper,
Ran this in 2013,2014,on both occasion's,My distance on the garmin show'ed 26.27 and 26.26.I'm just wondering, knowing these stats, what would ur approach be to ur overall average minute mile pace.

Hi Kerrylad, I'll be running even splits, based on the mile markers, to run 2:58:30-2:59:00. To do this, every mile should be close enough to being in the range of 6:45-6:50. I'll be getting briefed beforehand as to whether the race director advises running certain sections faster or slower due to hills, but I'd imagine even pacing. You targeting sub 3?

I'm 50/50,i just did a 20 mile run there and the last 8 ranged between 6:48 and 6:55,so not too optimistic after that.To say I found it hard would be a understatement.I did a 10k race yesterday,so I'm hoping that's the reason why I struggled today.

Just interested, why would you be looking to run 2:58:30 rather than 2:59:30?

Just interested, why would you be looking to run 2:58:30 rather than 2:59:30?

Generally, people are likely to drop a minute or so in the last 4-5 miles, so to aim for 2:59:30 could mean some people in the group missing out, margin would be too tight. Again, we will be getting instructions on what to pace at, but I would think it prudent to be about a minute up on sub3 by 22-23 miles.

Only my second half, my first where I'm actually going for a time. The last one was just to finish the distance, and it was a really tough course.

I'm debating going with the 1:50 pacer and seeing how long I can hold on (that pace is probably too much for me at the moment for the distance), been doing too much shorter/faster stuff and haven't done anything longer than 10K for a few months. Think it is probably smarter to go with the 2:00 pacer and then try pick it up a bit for the last 5-10K depending on how it's going. Breaking the PB would be nice but it's only my second ever half to dates so would be happy to get the distance done again. Starting DCM training in May with my running group.

At the risk of ruining the table for everyone, I'm in too. On mobile so I hope my fingers aren't too fat for that to work. Current PB is from a half at the gap of dunloe last year so I'm fairly confident of being able to improve on it at least, barring injury.

As mentioned elsewhere, goal A is to run the entire 26.2 miles without having to resort to walking breaks. If that takes me 4 hours so be it, I'll be happy to take a lot of confidence from doing just that. If the rough plan I have in my head right now works out, I'll end up around the 3:50 mark, which would be nice but goal A is goal A for a reason. I already have two experiences of suffering from 16 miles on that I really don't want a repeat of. In saying that, I've trained better and smarter this time around, still a couple too many races at the wrong times, possibly could have done with 1 or 2 more LSR's and a distinct lack of actual MP miles, but I'm in a good place physically and mentally. All I have to do now is not mess up the taper!!!
