Just remembered, when I was coming to the end of the North circular two kids had the garden hose out, was in a world of my own and wasn't expecting it, got the fright of my life, was just what I needed though :))

Yeah...same thing happened me on the NCR too, had forgotten about til I read your post :-D

Still, the joke will be on them when the Irish Water bill lands in ;-)

they've done that the last 3 years (probably more, but that's all i can attest to.

in fairness, it's usually been hotter, and the water has been a welcome respite. every other years they got nothing but thank you's and gratitude, can't blame them for being out again today

So... Are people going with the text message time or the website time (or their own watch?)

Website time matches my watch time

Chip time I would imagine. Text shows gun time, a lot of holds starting the 6 mile to give a bit of space between bunches.

Kids with sweats and a water hose saved me from the 2hr marker.

I will now have do it next year, brother and sister who are older kicked my my ass 1h31 and 1h45 .

Thank god I was home before the rain....only just

Oh and the date on the ribbon is wrong but the medal is correct

Big thanks to the 1.50 pacers for getting me over the line. I was struggling from the Gaelic Grounds on. Delighted with that time. Sets me up nicely for the summer.

Big thank you to the 3 hr pacers - but were we going a little too fast, by my watch we went through half way in around 1:28:25. i know its hard to judge it but maybe a little slower would have been better overall.

around the 16-17 mile mark the group started to break up. i backed off a bit but kept ticking along and managed to get under 3 by 10 seconds but had to dig very deep, actually passing both pacers in the last few miles.
like i said thanks to the all pacers, very important job, and very supportive and particularly good for warning people cones/signs.

    Mine does.
I got the feeling this year that they are cutting corners a bit too much.
goody bag, names on the numbers gone, expo poor as well.

I think the names on the numbers are gone because of the next number allocation scanning system they were using! No more looking through boxes for people numbers makes collection so much quicker! It certainly didn't bother me to write me own name!
I agree about goodie bags though, very disappointing!!

Delighted with my time, would have come in way under only for hammy cramping at Gaelic grounds and having to stop to stretch it out..

The six mile should be renamed the Great Limerick WALK. I started about a fifth of the way back in the group and almost had to walk the first K. Walkers 4 abreast in the middle of road. Very annoying!

That was torture. As already said big thanks to the 3 hour pacer's.I was in agony from mile 22 on,Dont know how I didn't stop and walk.My left calf was killing me.As I turned on to o'connell street I saw the clock at 2:59,i tried to sprint but calf completely went and I hit the deck with 10 meter's to finish,I managed to get back up and stumbled over the line to get a official time of 2:59:56.Delighted to get the sub 3 and a Nice 13 minute pb to boot.Well done to anyone who hit their target's yesterday,as conditions were very much against us.

Went great up until the climb at the Cresent, struggled badly over the last 6 miles in the heat. Was praying for one good shower like we got out around UL to cool me down and rejuvenate me, but it never came. Not overly disappointed, wasn't a major blowout by any means, more of a slowdown and less comfortable finish than I would have liked.
