People look at these things before they manufacture them presumably?

I posted a pic of this that was in my kids playdough mountain thingy.
I do think a spirally ribbed cock like object is unsuitable for a 4 year old.

Of course in my pic I had my fingers looking like a pair of balls.

Lol, must laugh at the outraged parent claiming the toy ruined their Christmas. Seriously!!

People that work in marketing know these things will generate publicity good or bad.
It's completely inappropriate as a children's toy but marketing people know no boundaries.

It reminds me of the 2003 film, The Corporation where marketers took pride in how they were able to manipulate children into nagging their parents to buy some products.

Anything sexual and children is not going to have parents running to the toy store.

Ha, looks like it was designed by lovehoney.

That doesn't look like a penis or a dildo or a sex toy. It looks like a medicine syringe that calpol now provides in it's box. The only difference is that this play dough thing is fat to fit the play dough no doubt. And if you have a look at the top of the play dough syringe it has an opening and that will create a design with the play dough. Some parents it seems have very little to do but complain.

Article is 8 Weirdly Sexual Products You Won't Believe Are for Kids

I read the piece and it says its for squeezing icing onto a toy cake.

So it can look like a plastic piping bag that chefs use too.

Its only parents with the filty minds. Kids aren't going to look at it and say oh look a big plastic cock with twirly things around it.

I had a little giggle at the shape myself:P, but my 3 year old is blissfully unaware of what it does or doesn't resemble and just enjoys using it to decorate her play doh creations :)

"We have heard some consumer feedback about the extruder tool in the Play-Doh Cake Mountain Playset and are in the process of updating future Play-Doh products with a different tool," the spokesperson said.

    *Snigger*
In the circumstances you might want to rephrase that lads! :D

My kids have this playdoh set and I have to say I did notice the strange shaped syringe. No one else did though in the house :)

You could copy & paste that as a response to 99% of the threads on here to be fair. On the internet everything is the most outrageous & offensive thing ever. Try to keep up.

They wouldn't, but mammy would...and wait till they go to sleep, then head for the jax to "test" if it really was..then post up their "outrage". While trying not to get all flushed..

Looks like a number of parents told the makers where to stick it.

    Major mistake from this company,
i was walking through the aisles with my chislers and i intentionally by-passed their products because of this.
Sad, but that's the way business is today, not much thought for the consumers.
Bit of a joke all round for the way businesses threat consumers.

They can't? (Sorry if you're taking the piss :)).

It's only hilariously hysterical parents obsessed with finding offence, particularly sexual-related, that are the ones getting affected by this. The children themselves aren't going to have an iota.
People threatening to boycott Play-Doh etc as if it's a bunch of paedos - social media really does bring out the stupid. There are great things about social media obviously, but the above is one huge drawback. Wish Bebo was never shut down, they might all have stayed there.

Do these Parents ban their children from the veg section in the supermarket ?

    Christ's sake.

The appetite on social media to be offended has become staggering.

If you see something sexual in this perfectly innocent toy the fault lies with you.

Kids are not going to be phased by this, much less sexually scarred.

It overreacting on a grand scale, if your 5 year old turns around and says this looks like a massive cock, then you start to worry, until then, these morons shoud try and find something else to get worked up about

Be ware of American puritanical tendencies... They can go a bit whacko at times.

You'd want a fairly wild imagination to think that looks like a ....

If yours looks like that, you might want to consult a doctor.

    What's next?

Back to the Victorian era of putting covers on table legs in case they remind someone of a rear end.

Pens and pencils ... OMG they even have the same first 3 letters!

It looks like a cake icing syringe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,807 ✭✭✭Custardpi

If you're obsessed with sex & sexuality to the extent that puritans are then eventually you start seeing phallic shapes everywhere. Really getting sick of these "outrage" & "offensive" stories. Large sections of the internet are increasingly coming to resemble Salem in 1692 such is the level of mindless hysteria.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,894 ✭✭✭UCDVet

God forbid children ever see anything resembling a cock. I won't let my son look at cupcakes cause I swear, they're shaped like breasts! I also don't let him bath in the nude, for fear of him seeing his penis.

Thankfully children have responsible adults like me to teach them that their body is shameful and wrong. Anything shaped like a cock should be banished, cocks included, until after marriage, like God intended.

The doctor's recommended my wife breast feed our daughter. Yeah right. Do you know what my wife's breasts look like? BREASTS. To think we would let children see breasts, much less suckle on them, is downright offensive. Doctor's will say it's natural and all that jazz, but we know the truth - we're just encouraging a life of bisexual experimentation and incest.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,028 ✭✭✭Venus In Furs

"Won't someone please think of the children!" is usually just a zzzzzzz meme, but by god this particular story really is just a Helen Lovejoy fest.

"It graphically portrays parts of the human body which, practical as they may be, are evil!" (On Michelangelo's David).

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,088 ✭✭✭SpaceTime

You forgot : After marriage and only for procreational purposes and a good bath in Dettol and off to confession and an extra long mass afterwards!

This is why you should never go out with a puritanical type!

It must have been an incredibly slow Newsday..

Now on Red Neck News : Satanic vegetables in the supermarket...

I bet they'd be completely fine with a nice healthy toy like a machine gun though.

Reminds me of Blackadder's puritanical aunt...
    The turnip episode...
    The Devil's Dumplings...
