    I'm a student , and I'm also training 7 times a week for rowing .
I've heard on numerous occasions of how cycling benefits rowing and so on and I'm looking for a decent road bike to get some mileage on , I'm 5'11 and growing and I've about €300 to spend , could anyone enlighten me what I should be looking out for on adverts or donedeal or should I go into a bike shop and buy brand new , also could you recommend a decent quality or entry level racing bike to me , thanks .

For €300 definitely go second hand as a new bike costing that will be a low budget low spec bike. With €300 you can make offers on bikes advertised for €500, it's s buyers market and people wanting to upgrade will want to sell their old bikes before buying new.

At your height you'll be needing a 56cm frame, look for a bike with carbon fork and at least tiagra groupset. Stick to known brands like Giant, Trek, Specialized, Ridley, Boardman etc eyc

2nd hand at that budget and you'll be looking for shimano tiagra possibly 105/alluminium frame carbon forks.

You should be able to haggle a good price this time of year.

Something along the lines of this which is priced at €400 also invest in a good lock if cycling to college this could cost €70+.

If you could stretch your budget to €500 then there is a Ridkey Orion and Felt Z6 in this thread that would be brilliant bikes to have as a first road bike. The Felt would be my pick from the two.
