Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

As we have known since day 1 of the announcment it will be showing the same auld ITV ****e as TV3. In fact both channel will be showing Jeremy Kyle all next week.

Very weird Ireland AM this morning.

What do you reckon the future holds for TV3? Play TV, Psychics?

The lineup is rubbish beyond words, nothing of note for an adult male to watch.
Kyle for the dole scroungers in the morning, and Corrie for the bored housewifes in the evening.

Only watch ITV for their drama, Lewis, Mr Selfridge and the like.
I'll tune in for those at least

    Who is them?

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

It's on UPC now - both UTV NI and UTV NI HD are already gone and replaced by the pre-launch loop.

Sloppy job really.. UPC could have either cut over seamlessly this evening or UTV could have simulcast UTV NI till then. As it is it's a whole day of programming wasted. Can't imagine people who watch UTV being pleased today!

There does seem to be a UTV Ireland HD though

TG4 showed the Dublin Leonard Cohen concert last night. Great show.
Their coverage of GAA games is brilliant too in fairness.

There are an awful amount of channels I'd get rid of before TG4. They might talk funny on a lot of it's programming but they do have a lot of good shows on

No offence to UTV Ireland, but the way you have labelled this seems like a count down to the end of the the world.

    Crappy Irish television; television; something.

UTV launch "TV" in 11 hours.

At least Denis O Brien doesn't own it as part of his empire.

Couldn't believe it when the Government allowed him to keep the stranglehold he has on the Irish media.

Way way too much power concentrated in the hands of a man with such a dubious past.

That'd be FG's "Uncle Denis" then... last time round it was ESAT, now it's IW (siteserv) and the media.

    No surprise really.

TV3 is fcked. Only a matter of time before all the advertisers pull out. I predict a slow death over the next 12 months

Other than being a company that are installing meters for them, siteserv (and DOB) don't have anything to do with IW. Why make out like they are the same company?

This Denis OBrien owns our water ****e is getting tiresome

The fact that it makes its way in to every thread is even moreso. Every OP may aswell just stick a list of keywords in at the start "DOB, IW, Bankers" etc etc.

I bet it shows a load of ****e, the way BBC NI doesn't show some of BBC London's shows

Is Julian going to be on it? I love the way he slags Gail Platt

    Go read it again...

Poster asked why the government allow DoB to retain a strangehold on Irish media. I highlighted how the connection between him and FG goes back far longer and deeper than just the media.

For a start you can tune inti any of the BBC channels now so just watch the London version.

No, Julian is on UTV not UTV Ireland. Their continuity announcers have been well flagged at this stage in their pre launch publicity.

Kinda glad this is happening. TV3 were coasting for years just playing whatever UTV had to offer. An entire Saturday from 3pm would be a repeat of last weeks Xfactor followed by this weeks Xfactor and then Xfactor Xtra on until 11pm. It was lazy infuriating programming.

Its almost fitting that the channel that TV3 put all their chips on are going to be the ones to cripple them. Only now that UTV have made their move are they finally putting money into their own series (RedRock) and trying out some new Quiz show templates.

Anyone with a Sky Box will still have the NI UTV, it's a bit like 1979 again with it not coming on until 7.25pm and only staying on for a few hours.

Not necessarily. Tv3 will still have champions league, and, if anything, it gives them opportunities to reinvent the channel as something other than soap central.

Anyway all commercial network tv is dying a slow death. Netflix and on demand tv dominate amongst under 40s, and they are the market advertisers really care about.
