Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Iphone 5s hacked

    Hi guys,

My iphone 5s is after being hacked. I know this seems unlikely but basically this is whats happening: I have a whatsapp conversation with around 10 of my mates and we are constantly talking on that probably 50 messages a day. Now in the last few weeks, my girlfriend has been receiving texts from my number which are copied and pasted from the whatsapp conversation with my mates. All the texts are things i would of said in the conversation that are kind of dodgy e.g "did u see ur one last night" basically stuff I wouldnt want my girlfriend reading so it does seem malicious. My phone has no record of me sending the texts to her but theyre on her phone for sure. Last night in the whatsapp group with my mates the hacker posted using my number 3 screenshots of dodgy comments that we had previously said and lo and behold my girlfriend recieved another text around the same time.

Can anyone tell me what is happening? Or how to find out whose doing it? This is as you can imagine driving a wedge between me and my girlfriend. Ive updated my iOS ive factory reset my phone, reinstalled whatsapp and it didnt stop! Would i be mad to go to the guards about this? Obviously whoever is doing this is a total lunatic so im fairly worried.

    Thanks for any replies lads

Do you both use the same Apple ID by any chance? I know it can happen with iMessage but not totally sure if it can happen in WhatsApp.

Are the texts definitely coming from your phone number and not your email address? I'd definitely change your Apple password and stop checking out other girls...

My first guess would be it's one your mates who knows your Apple ID password. Change it. If it stops you'll know.

It's just this is an interesting one so I googled the issue and it has in fact happened to others on WhatsApp, but from what I can see only on Android devices, have you had a non iphone in the last couple years or anything? Or did you change your sim? Like even get a nano sim for the 5s? I cant post links as I'm new but google "someone using my number whatsapp" and take a look at the first link

If she's receiving them via text then it's probably one of your mates sending them via webtext or something like that?

Also it sounds to me like only 9 of them are your mates.

Sounds odd. If It keeps happening try another app like Viber or something if it happens with that too then it has to be someone you know doing it.

Still seems strange I would be very confused if it happend to me.

What phone did you have before the 5s? Whatsapp on it? Where's that phone now? Those messages to your GF, iMessage or actual text (Imsg=blue text=green). Doubt you're "hacked" either someone is using an old phone of yours that you didn't erase or someone managed to load an iCloud backup of your whatsapp onto their device, the last option would require your apple ID/password.

Is your girlfriend only getting "dodgy" texts that would make her suspicious or is she also getting random innocuous msgs along the lines of "yeah ok see you then" etc that wouldn't be in anyones interests to be sending her?

If shes only getting the "dodgy" messages its more likely that someones purposefully sending them. Check the sent folder on your online webtext and see if they're being sent by someone via that. Also change the pass on your webtext just in case too.
It's one way to rule out someone copying and pasting your conversation and texting it to your gf.
