I didn't see the original performance of this. Was he good singer when he sang it in the show, because he sounds like shít now

The song is very slickly presented in all fairness.

    Unlike the show itself.

Ah let the Swedes have their moment.

I still think Ireland are the big winners today.

Why? The song wasn't bad in fairness.
Call me cynical but I can't take a song about how loving and accepting Russia is seriously given its terrible track record with gay rights. I'm not taking the piss when I say I'd be concerned for the safety of gay Eurovision fans going over there if Russia won.

That's no reflection on Polina or your average Russian person but as much about building bridges as the eurovision is, sometimes you have to take a political stand against a country.

(Not to get started on Ukraine, Crimea, flight MH17, etc).

Hope Petra is back hosting in Sweden next year. Very disappointed with Austria this year, the whole show was a mess.

Russia was robbed. The Swedish song was as generic as you can get.

I wonder will we hear it on the radio here at all. Very commercial and radio-friendly. Probably not though. Radio stations seem to have a problem playing Eurovision songs.

If I'm right in thinking, the last act to get nul points in the final before tonight was Jemini...  :D:D;);)

And 1997 was the last time two countries got nul points in the final - Portugal and Norway the unlucky ones on that occasion.

Winning song in English. Moral Btit victory. ;)

The last time the winning song wasn't in English was in 2007:

...and the last time before that was Dana International in 1998. :D;)

BOSCO and Vincent Browne as a duet for next years Eurovision- whatchathink? :D

Anyone remember one year after the main Eurovision show, BBC3 had a kind of after-party? Can't remember who presented it, but it was fooking hilarious. They were talking to performers and other celebrities...they were pissed!

Would love more of that now!

I'm happy Sweden won I knew they win thats I never voted for them.
I love the song Sweden are great at producing dance tracks!
Glad Australia were 5th place amazing for them!
It was best Ireland wasn't in it tonight avoiding getting no votes.

Which actually would have been very possible given what happened to Germany and Austria...  :o:o

Radio stations seem to have a problem playing Eurovision songs.

I haven't once heard Ireland's song on the radio, even though they all keep banging on about how unfair it was that she didn't get through, none of the DJs then played the song. If we don't support the song ourselves, can we really expect anyone else to?

Anyway, it doesn't really matter anyway, as it's just a silly popularity contest. Not like it's all politics or anything...

I have to say I think every song and performance this year was instantly forgettable. I wont be humming any of these in the shower tomorrow.

Those two songs were one of the best shocked how it didn't receive any.
Ella Eyre from the UK wrote the German song.

Swedish song is basically "This is the rhythm of the night" by corona...

    you're dead right

complete rip off that would put Father Ted to shame

  • Registered Users Posts: 312 ✭✭JuanJose

Well done folks. Cracking thread....couldn't keep up during the voting! Austrian presention almost worthy of nul points.....marathon event. Time that the Big 5 threw themselves into the semi-finals & took their chances there. Preferential treatment they get in auto qualification is doing them no favours whatsoever.

Long story short? Congrats Sweden. We seriously need to get our arses in gear. Are RTE listening though?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,391 ✭✭✭Mysteriouschic

Sweden is this song exactly start to finish just new lyrics more toned down version.
Still a brilliant song! Many of the great dance djs are swedish .

Loved the Italian song, and the singers were soo easy on the eye as well as on the ear.Cant wait to hear them singing again, hope they'll be touring and doing tv shows. They can sing anything.:)
