While Helen is indeed great, let's not forget that you still have to put up with the commentary of Greeny and Vassos... :o:o:o

Just watching the Darts Extra program on the beeb. The opening credits / titles contain some silhouettes of some of the players, I can make out Wolfie, Tony O'Shea and I also think one of them is Ted Hankey. Now the last one looks like Elvis so I haven't a clue who that is but I'm almost certain the second-last one is none other than PDC player Dave 'Chissy' Chisnell!!!!!!!!!

    Vassos is a pain alright.

I like Tony though despite the frequent gaffes and odd inappropriate remark:D.
It was nice to hear him congratulating Bunting on his year and wishing him the best.

These titles were first used for the 2011 tournament - Chizzy moved to the PDC immediately afterwards.

He had, of course, finished runner-up to Wolfie the year before.

Safe to say, the theme tune has about a billionth of the charm of "Cranes"... :o;)

He's still past his prime, though. :o

Jeff Smith is a good player for a qualifier. Doesn't seem phased by the big stage at all.

Edit: I see he's moved back from the PDC so that would explain why he hasn't been at the Lakeside before I suppose

Jeff Smith through against gary Robson

Every time I've seen Robson he's thrown some incredibly bad darts

That was an excellent third dart on the double 19 to save the 2nd last set but after that he kept missing single darts and busting awful but the better player defo won ,Jeff could win this out would be class to see a qualifier win it out

FFS BBC!!!! Completely missed the 2nd shot at the bull in deciding set between the girls!

From the look on de graaf's face she was waaayyyyy out but the ref called her dart as closer

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 904 ✭✭✭squadro

Nerves or not some of those darts at the end of the robson/smith game were shockingly bad.

They seemed more interested in showing de Graaf's child as opposed to what was happening on the oche

I know! Even though the child was sleeping it was still more entertaining than Tony Green!

    Alan Norris on the move???

Good performance there from Montgomery, Waites wasn't up to much though.

Should have moved across a few years ago, maybe after the Grand Slam win would have been the right time, probably would have made the Premier League in the form he was in back then.

Don't know, looked like it. Not a fan of him but he played very well, good avg. and brilliant % checkout.

Ted Hankey looks really well thankfully, hope to see him back soon.

Still had a 94 average, Montgomery scored out of his skin and finished superbly.

John boy Walton throw the arrows anymore?

Montgomery played exceptionally. His bull checkout where he was far to the left of the oche was an absolute peach as well, the best bull hit I've seen.

He was well able to keep up with the PDC guys back then. I remember hearing that he really loved his job and playing darts in his spare time. He was a carpenter with a council. Maybe the thoughts of making the move and going pro and not getting anywhere put him off.

 where? Dont think theres been 100+average across the whole competition and pretty sure some players in the tournament are struggling for a 90+ average!

Sarcasm I'd hazard a guess at.

Its actually got to the stage were his health is concerning me. I've had 3 relatives suffer from dementia and alzheimers and the repetition of questions/phrases along with general confusion are major signs of trouble ahead

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 904 ✭✭✭squadro

Think the two commentators are having a competition to see who can get in the most dog related references/jokes. Ffs

Yerman Dawson has an awful throwing style.

I'm waiting for the day a player clocks the referee - "Ross to throw first - game on" - "Who the f*ck are you calling a gay mon?"

Have you been stealing jokes from tony green?

Great to see Wolfie back to his best. One of the greatest of all-time.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,480 ✭✭✭Devastator

Wolfie, as ridiculous as this sounds, could equal Barney on 5 world championships. Some of the 'top' players have been shocking this tournament and more and more taking on the PDC challenge opens for wolfie to be about the only 1 left!

Out of what's left I'd like to see Scott Mitchell or the Canadian qualifier win it.

The best performer thus far has been Glen Durrant.
Had a 98 avg in the second round and a 96 in the first.

He plays Fitton tonight and if he comes through that, I'd fancy him to beat Adams in the semi.
