When you think about great women in the ring, there is a name that is quite often overlooked. She was a dominant force but unfortunately she wrestled for the WWF/WWE during the time of "the diva", and was rejected by a lot of fans who wanted nothing more than some T and A. When she finished up the Divas search was in full swing. But the women in NXT and the indie scene today that have focused on in ring skill point to her as a great influence. She she debuted a few years later or perhaps a few years earlier who knows how she would be viewed now, it's Ivory!

    STILL TO PICK

    BONUS ROUND!!!!
    ROUND 16

a.k.a. Dave's last chance to mess with people.
    DRqj1tH.gif

This is your final round for the draft this year, and is my last chance to cause some havoc.
    HEY! That's Mine!!!
Go look at the order everyone signed up for the draft.

Everyone now trades rosters with the person above them on the list. So I get Mr Nice Guys, MNG gets RAF32's, and so on.

Thanks everyone for playing, written shows are due in by this Friday, voting opens on Saturday.

    I didn't fool anyone, did I? :(

Ok, the actual stip for this round then. Two alterations.

    Alliteration Central
When choosing for this round, your choice's name must begin with the same first letter as your username does.

So, since mine is Lord TSC, I can choose someone whose name begins with "L".

Their "name" can be either a gimmick they played for at least three months, or can be the first letter of their first or last "real" name. So, as an example, Kane could be picked for someone whose name begins with K or G or J (Glenn Jacobs).

    Early Bird Catches the Worm
Order for this round is NOT random; instead, draft order for this round is decided by order of sign ups to the competition a few weeks back. As such, the order for this round is as follows...

    1 Lord TSC
    2 MNG
    3 RAF32
    4 thebostoncrab
    5 Beaker Joe
    6 Jester252
    7 Uncle Walt
    8 Shagnasti
    9 Lebowskittle
    10 MoneyMaker
    11 Campo
    12 Brad Maddox Guy
    13 BrianRegan
    14 Bounty Hunter
    15 MrKiscool2
    16 Sin Eater
    17 Connemara man

My final pick of the Draft is going to be a British wrestling legend who will fit into my plans in a very handy way.

Monday Night Grappling is delighted to welcome the man who trained William Regal...

    hqdefault.jpg

    ...Marty Jones!

I've been watching a lot of his matches on World of Sport and this man is ahead of his time, as William Regal pointed out in a piece on WWE.com:
The two people that really should get more credit than anybody in the world would be ‘Rollerball’ Mark Rocco and my trainer, Marty Jones. They revolutionized the wrestling industry as far as what is considered the cruiserweight style today. And I’m talking about the Eddie Guerrero cruiserweight style — the hard-hitting, highflying, aggressive stuff that is continued today with the likes of Fergal Devitt.

“They started that style together wrestling each other in England in the mid-’70s. They’d both been to Japan, both been to Mexico, so they took a lot of flying moves, but made it very aggressive, very physical and it completely changed the style.

“Dynamite Kid, who at the time was a young boy, had more of a traditional British style. He started doing their style. He took it to Calgary. Satoru Sayama, who was the original Tiger Mask, was in England at the time wrestling as Sammy Lee. He had his own style, but he took their aggressive style back to Japan. Black Tiger was his original arch nemesis, which was ‘Rollerball’ Mark Rocco.

“That’s where that style comes from. And I don’t even think the people who do that style realize where it came from, but you can go and watch it on YouTube and you’ll see them doing stuff in the ’70s that holds up today. The progression of their matches up until about 1980 on TV in England on ‘World of Sport’ just blew people away. You can see the audience — a lot of old ladies with not a clue what was going on — because they weren’t used to seeing this incredibly physical, hard-hitting style.

I'm not only taking Marty for his technical ability though, but because he will also fit into my storyline plans beautifully. As Bret Hart notes in his book when Dynamite Kid was proving tough to deal with in the Stampede Wrestling days...
We couldn't afford to lose Dynamite, so Ross brought Marty Jones into the territory to appease him. Marty came from Manchester, and he had been Dynamite's chum and mentor.

So Marty will hopefully prove useful in more ways than one.

    Complete Monday Night Grappling roster:

    1. Stone Cold Steve Austin
    2. Dynamite Kid and Davey Boy Smith aka The British Bulldogs
    3. Rey Mysterio and Mistico/Sin Cara
    4. Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard - The Brainbusters
    5. Paige and Sweet Saraya
    6. Kerry Von Erich
    7. Tyler Breeze
    8. Eric Bischoff
    9. Nick Bockwinkel
    10. Kim Kardashian
    11. Rikishi
    12. Jim Ross
    13. Bayley
    14. David and Kevin Von Erich
    15. Konnan
    16. Marty Jones
