GSM box needed for UPC line?

    Phone watch system. GE panel. Just switched phone to UPC. Now both PW and UPC saying I need a GSM box. Seems a bit extreme, no?

    Have you ported your number over to upc? There is a way to connect to upc phone by splitting the line into the modem/router.

    Edit: Not sure if this would work with PW plus if you loose power to the router the line will be dead. I think this is why GSM is recommended.

    Connect you phone line from the router to the panel. It will work but as pointed out it is reliant on the mains power being on.
    Many good company's would supply you with a free dedicated GSM digi if you were signing up to maintenance & monitoring.
    Shop around.....
