Help with PS3 hard drive upgrade

I have a brand new 12GB ps3 and want to buy a bigger hard drive to put into it, 250 maybe 500gb.

What's the best brand to buy? Is it a big job to do?
Anything I should know before I go and buy something and it ends up not being compatible?

No, you can get an external one and cram it in there disassemble it.

What's the max capacity hdd the ps3 can take? I have a 500gb one now but its pretty much full and I was thinking about upgrading again.

Seen several mentioning 1tb, and some up to 1.5tb

You're looking for a laptop hard drive, which is a "2.5 inch SATA hard drive", I'd go with whatever has high ratings / good price on amazon. I've been surviving off a 320GB and downloading most PS+ games, so a terabyte should do you grand for life. Up to how much you want to download really.

Ive 750GB, heard of people with 1TB. Havent heard of 1.5TB.

With PS+ the old hard drive fills up quick. Something around 400 downloads in my list.
