music/venue/event .. recommendations needed for night out in dublin?

    will be in dublin Fri night, unexpectedly .. have searched and searched but does not seem to be any gigs on .. any recommendations so for a music venue/event ... pub or otherwise? usually into alt/indie/80s new wave/reggae/dub/ska, anything really .... but no trad please, I am coming from Galway! even comedy? thx

    It's actually been about 4 years since I was on a night out to indie club in Dublin but places I used to frequent:

    Whelans (the daddy)
    Workmans Club (full of posers and twats but decent music and women)
    The Globe
    Bruxelles
    Foggy Dew
    Sweeneys on Dame Street was always decent
