Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I think this week confirms for me that RVP is well overpriced when i cant captain a 12.5 forward at home!
If Aguero was at home it would be a no brainer!

Maybe it's not as commonly used in English. In French we refer to it as "la méthode Coué" which means convincing yourself of taking the right decision even if you either know it's potentially a (very) bad one or if you have absolutely no idea how good or bad it is.

For instance you go to your exams without having revised anything (let's say you went out drinking instead to make it more obvious) but you convince yourself there's a (big enough) chance you'll get your favourite topic and it'll be OK. Méthode Coué .

Or I could quote one of the most iconic French movie from the 90ies ("La Haine"). "This is the story of a man falling from a 50 floors building. At each floor he repeats to himself "so far so good" to convince himself it's all gonna be OK". That's (extreme) autosuggestion ;).
In the movie though, the bottomline of the story is that: "what's important is not the fall but the landing :D".

Getting our weekly French lesson in :D

Hazard! Even though I am very tempted to give it to Terry!

Ah now! I know he is in serious goalscoring form but your joking right!?

Nope! I can't see Newcastle scoring so it's a clean sheet anyway and I've a feeling he'll grab himself another goal! That's could be 30 points if it comes through. Saying all that though I'm not sure if I have the cojones to go through with it :pac:

He has 3 goals in 4. 4 in 5 would be amazing but he has to stop this purple patch sometime.

Having Terry over my rival having Azpi is the main reason that has allowed me to cut his 50+ lead to 18.

Don't have Hazard and I fear for the worst this week..

Re. discussion on captain choices - if it is a 50/50 decision like this week, I would advise always go with your own gut instinct. Nothing worse than having regrets about something you felt you should and were going to so. Trust yourself and your instinct.

I'm actually starting to strongly consider Sanchez, after a week punishing my brain with a Costa v Hazard dilemma.

I'm stuck between 3, Valencia downing and oscar, I'm reluctant against oscar as I feel he will only play 60+ minutes so its between the other 2

Fair enough but I'd be going for Oscar out of those. He may only play 60 mins but has potential to do more damage in 60mins than the others in 90mins imo...

Great balance in that team, with Fellaini and Barry hanging back Oscar and Downing will have all the freedom in the world to get forward to support that devastating front two:P

    It's a pisstake right??;)

Or is it a team from some draft league?

Nope in a fixed league so you bid on one player and only you own him, this is why my team is way different

We have 100 million to spend but the main profile strikers went for 35-40 million in our league

I captained Brad Friedel one xmas about 5 years ago. Clean sheet plus peno save meant I still remember it to this day.

That's legend!! I couldn't captain a keeper though if I played the game for 50 years.

Austin away to former club Burnley or Kane at Palace...

QPR are woeful away from home but the fact it's against his former club is swaying me.

Kane is on fire but spurs were woeful against palace earlier this season and palace are the 0-0 specialists..

in the same boat. austin or kane. or hazard. .

Austin and Kane both away from home. Hazard at home to a poor Newcastle must be better than that.

Yeah thinking of that. have santi and sanchez both home to stoke might run riot also.

They are an option and Arsenal generally do well against Stoke at home but Chelsea at home against a Newcastle in disarray is a better option I think.

Dam can't be sure I went with Hazard now! Wanted to and pretty sure I checked last night but have gone blank nah :(

    Costa
Went with Costa in the end, I think he has a big one in him. Had it on Sanchez and Hazard for most of the week.

    Sterling
Took a punt on Kane as I've a bit of catching up to do. Hopefully an uneventful Chelsea match!

Theres weeks to make a bold captain choice, and this is definitely not one of them.

    Oops... :)

So... Swiper my dear friend. Did you stand firm on Costa :D ?!

I have to admit that after the intense discussion we had, your sneaky little evilish mind did trigger in mine some schizophrenic Gollum-like internal debates :P :pac:...

"Look here, Newcastle are in bits... Costa will do damage"
"... But Hazard's on great form"
"nah Costa is the juiciest option, didn't you notice how fit he was during the festive period?"
    "... But Hazard was too..."
"Swiper told you, didn't he? Costa's actually a great differential this week"
    "... "
"Don't follow the masses, you don't have any friend anyway nobody likes you"
"this is not true, the Master told me to go for Hazard"
"You have no courage, I spit on you"
    "You're evil! I don't like you"
    "Swiper'd have warned you..."
"... aaaah ?! ... what have I done?! What have you done?!"

    "..."
"It's fine Master... Hazard's still my captain".

Very good iroced:pac: nice to know someone is thinking of me:p

I'm sorry I got involved in this topic as I felt I had no choice but to go with Costa afterwards, I'm quite happy with the decision tough, penalties were the only thing which were bringing me to the Hazard side.

Sure I have hazard anyway so it won't matter much if he has a field day:pac::D right?????;)
