Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Well, choosing bottom bracket is giving some headaches! I am going to be getting a campy ultra torque chain set and fitting to a colnago c60 with their new thread fit bb which accepts bb 86 but this bearing set up is new to me so wondering what choices I have for the best bb to use for longevity? Have been told that the enduro bearing is very good but they don't make cups to accept campy? That odd clip arrangement on the drive side makes it essential to have cups that accept this arrangement or not?

    Confused

Ultra Torque cranksets are a bit different in that the bearings are actually on the crankset itself. The "bottom bracket" is really just cups that are screwed (or pressed in this case) into the frame. You can get third party bearings, but the ones that come with Campagnolo cranks are pretty good anyway.

Campagnolo make BB86-specific adaptors for UtraTorque - for 2015 these have been re-modelled so that they are less likely to creak if frame manufacturers are a bit lax with their dimensional tolerances (a very widespread problem). We recommend that they are fitted with Loctite 641.

You need to be very careful with third party bearings for UltraTorque - the Campagnolo bearing is not the same width as a commercial bearing - it's 6mm not 7mm -the 6mm dimension is proprietory. The wider bearings will not allow correct assembly of UT.

The spring clip on the RHS has to be there for correct function of UltraTorque, so yes, you do need correctly designed and made adapters for BB86 / UT - so our advice is always to go with the Campag adaptors or risk a problem which won't be covered by the Campag warranty ...
