Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Rebels draw level at 28 all. And get their 4 try bonus point

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Kiwi_knock

Foley hits a penalty to win the game for the Tahs, Rebels have 2 mins to salvage a losing bonus point. 38-28 at the moment.

All over. Exciting game even if the standard was pretty low ;)

    Hilarious :)

    What did he do?

The ball was kicked through into the tahs try area and he dived and knocked out straight out, rugby league style.

Yellow card for professional foul ;)

Tahs got a good win in the end. Didn't see the game but two losses in a row would have been a disaster. High scoring game too.

Unbelievable how the Brumbies managed to lose earlier. They really controlled that match.

Karmichael Hunt did the same thing when he first started playing Union I think, think it was for Biarritz.

Just home from work to catch the second half of bulls/canes match.
Another tight contest as expected with the canes down by 1 with 20 mins left.

Haha go on Savea, this Hurricanes team can really go places now they don't have Mark Hammett coaching them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

Great work by savea to get that try. Very smart to duck low and reach for try line.

17-13 to canes with 11 mins left

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,557 ✭✭✭sydneybound

I'm being harsh here but that's shocking he should have finished that...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

Looks like his finger tips were out!!! Had to finish that chance

    Big break for the canes.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Bulls on the cusp of two home defeats to open the season. Will be hard to see them coming back from that to be a force this season. Given the players at their disposal, it's a miserable start to the year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

That's a massive win for the canes. Very professional job in final 2 minutes to see that game out.

The bulls need to find a smaller stadium to play in as theres far too many empty seats suppose that's the same for all Super Rugby matches.

Teams that win their games in SA usually make the playoffs. That's a great start for them.

Traditionally a strong Bulls pack should beat up a generally flaky Canes pack . . . .

I know Bulls have been lightweight in the locks with Victor coming back but was the above true to any extent?

    Great penalty by Slade

Aaron Smith! ! Excellent pressure. ....

    Barritt

    Saders winning 10 - 7

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,557 ✭✭✭sydneybound

Great game so far, disallowed try just there for the highlanders.

    10-7 crusaders at the moment.

  • Subscribers Posts: 41,863 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

Yeah sopoaga butchered the over lap outside to fekitoa

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,415 ✭✭✭Swiwi.

Ye olde Highlanders reserves will need to come on, the men from the deep south look spent already. A few lucky calls to the Saders there, I must say, althought I thought the Landers were holding on at the ruck before Smith's try. Hopefully Highlanders score first after the break, otherwise might turn into a rout.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,557 ✭✭✭sydneybound

Happy with this game so far, think it's out of reach for the Highlanders. Good advert for Super Rugby.

  • Subscribers Posts: 41,863 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

Missed tackles in the loose is crucifing us.
Crusaders are incredibly controlled in the fight and anytime they get within our 22 they look like they will score.

Sopoagas pass looking very painful now.

  • Subscribers Posts: 41,863 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

Dan pryor on! ! Let's see how he goes against mccaw

  • Subscribers Posts: 41,863 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

And as i say that mccaw goes off

  • Subscribers Posts: 41,863 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

Some very questionable decisions by that ref.

  • Subscribers Posts: 41,863 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

Some ridiculous decisions my the Highlanders when they're in the opposition 22

The inevitable Feki-meister dot down. Gives the Highlanders a sniff!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,415 ✭✭✭Swiwi.

6 points in it, 7 minutes to go. Good luck Syd!

Edit: and better luck next time, but a valuable LBP for ye.

  • Subscribers Posts: 41,863 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

We just about deserved the losing bonus. Thought our composure in the opposition half was lacking and discipline in our own was poor. Hopefully first game cobwebs.

On the plus side i though our set piece was excellent. I think we got the better of the scrum exchanges and i can't remember any poor line outs. Even when the reserves came in the standard continued.

Thought ye were very good swiwi. Very controlled. It was only after dagg and mc caw went off did Highlanders get back into it.

Barrett was very good, though wheeler was for us (apart from that last knock on) and drummod continues to look like a decent find.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,415 ✭✭✭Swiwi.

Slade, Crotty (backline glue), and Dagg looked good. I wish they would ditch Fonatia, he's kind of a Darragh Fanning style plyer: tries hard, but just not quite at the level. Don't like McCaw at 6, once Read gets back will be a better pack.

Just the top 2 inches missing for the Highlanders "game management", but a better 2nd 40. Will come right. The new wing Naholo (?) looks promising. Might have been a different ball game if Sopoaga had passed left...

  • Subscribers Posts: 41,863 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

Yeah naiholo had a good game, looks a strong player. Freuen did very little today as well.

I see the reds are starting with a reserve scrum half playing at 10 in frisbee.

Could be a long night for the reds.....

That was a good solid win for the crusaders. Needed that win after the poor showing last weekend.
Not a bad effort from the highlanders first up. Decision making was pretty poor at times but I'd put that down to match practice for the moment anyway.

Standard of handling here is pretty bad

Had a cyclone just go through brisbane so I'd imagine the conditions aren't that great.
Reds first try was very good though.

Stormers leading 18-6 against the Blues at half time.

Triggs for the Blues got a red card on 25 minutes for punching Vermeulen in the face. Just need 2 more tries against a 14 man team for the bonus point win. Cant find a working link for the game so RSG to the rescue. :pac:

Should be a canter to 5 points for you. Absolutely idiotic from Triggs. Commentators were saying that a new directive from World Rugby is that any punch to the face is now an automatic red card. I like the look of your 12, nimble chap, and goes against alll the doom & gloom on this forum about rugby players getting too big.

I certainly hope so. Sounds about right, shouldnt be punching at all, nvm the face.
12 is de Allende, and at 1,89m and 101kg I dont think he is that small. Unless you mean he is nimble for a big guy?
It is a pity about mostly the bigger players making the national teams. Juan de Jongh hasnt a hope at 1,75m and 88kg, neither does Cheslin Kolbe at 1,71m and 72kg. Agility and flair doesnt make up for size these days.

Game back on and a late shoulder charge on Kolbe. Lucky to not get a yellow too. We would like playing 13 men.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,866 ✭✭✭Jacovs

Blues still manage to score a try after playing the last 25 minutes with 14 men against 15.

    Ah I meant kolbe.

He will get stuck in the same boat that Gio Aplon was. Dont blame Aplon for going abroad. Stormers/WP seem to like their smaller agile players. Even Joe Pietersen, who now plays for the Cheetahs. Unfortunately thats where the road ends for all these players.
Kolbe from my home town too.

Stormers win 27-16. No bonus point

Top of the log after round 2, I will take it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,866 ✭✭✭Jacovs

If I wasnt a super 15 supporter I wouldnt know wtf was going on.

On the supersport website it shows the Stormers top of the overall log:
    http://www.supersport.com/rugby/super-rugby/logs

A news24 article is claiming they are second on the overall log:
    http://www.sport24.co.za/Rugby/Super15/Stormers-stumble-past-14-man-Blues-20150221

And the actual superxv.com website have them 3rd on the overall log:
    http://www.superxv.com/table/

Good bonus point win for Sharks, back on track a bit. Very hard to run in many tries in the extremely wet conditions.

Good win for the Reds this weekend. Only caught the highlights but after last week's non-event a win was badly needed. Great first try; running rugby football.

Great try but that could have been the worst match I have watched in a long, long time. To be fair to the Reds they had no real 10 with Hunt not available and O'Connor pulling out just before kick off. I know the weather made the ball greasy too but it was awful fare. A penalty try the only score in the entire second half....
