to keep this post on the front page until tomorrow, can those who voted post that they voted,

Two things that have never happened (as far as I am aware)
    or unlikely to happen again

    1. An Irish winner of a FIFA award

    2. A woman winning a top FIFA award when up against men

Plus it is the best goal :)

That's the same link i posted in the FIFA link above, i i wonder what's causing it not to show, which is a nuisance as it was working a few days ago?

Btw: i heard that RTE player are going to show it live, with highlights later on that night.

I voted for the best goal.

Isn't that what the competition is for? To determine the best goal of 2014?

Such a small minded mentality thing to vote for someone because they are from your area/country.

We all have our own opinion, its not just that she is a woman and she is Irish, IMO it was the best goal of the three

When the results are revealed I'd like to see the breakdown of the voting habits.

And if it's the best goal of the three why is this thread here telling me to vote for her?

You don't have to vote for Stephanie Roche.

You are were asked to vote.

Rte and many Irish media outlets are supporting Stephanie,as are Irish people in general.

    Nothing wrong with that.

    Its called support.

    Vote here for Stephanie.

Roches goal is clearly better than van persies header.

RVP scores a goal in the world cup, with a header of outlandish proportions with one of the greatest keepers of his generation, Casillas, in goal.

Roche scores a good goal in a match with a female keeper with 19 people watching. Good goal but will not win, and rightly so. 3rd best goal of the 3.

To be honest, I would only put RVP's goal as third after Stephanie's and James. If RVP's goal from a couple of years ago, the first time volley from Rooney's pass, I would put that right up there as one of the best ever, I would not RVP's world cup goal as that good

Do you not see the imperious skill to lose the grasp of the defender, to follow the ball in the air 70 yards, to take note of the goalkeepers positioning and then the execution of the header OVER the goalkeeper into the net in the opening match of the world cup when you are 1-0 down to draw your team level in the most wonderful tournament of all?

Bit of a fluke rather than outlandish, as for Casillas, he has been on the wane for the last two years, not the keeper he once was, so that is a bit of an exaggeration.

Doubt anyone would argue the skill needed to steer a ball after tracking it for 70yds.. Doesn't make it the best goal of the three..

Wonderful tournament or not. Great goal all the same.

One of the greatest strikers in the world who has scored magnificent goals at the highest level all his career scores one and it is deemed a fluke?

What has Roche done to show her goal was not a fluke?

RVP scored versus a defense and keeper that conceded 7 goals in 2 games, the two games that mattered. Casillas had a poor tournament.

I won't reply to the other comment Gits made or why 19 of an attendance made the slightest difference. Yossi Benayoun scored a brilliant goal on a pre-season tour for Chelsea a couple of years ago, as good a goal as you will see anywhere, that not many people saw that, does it take away from the level of skill involved?
Stephanie's goal is top draw, the control, the touch, the turn and the finish. Casillas would not have saved it ;)
