Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    I'm considering this macbook pro,

    http://www.pcworld.ie/Product/apple-macbook-pro-13/311159/302

although its the older model I like that is has 500gb drive as opposed to the small flash storage on the new model and macbook air.I have approx 100gb of software that I want on the laptop at all times and dont want to use external drives .

Do macbooks age as quickly as ipads and iphones ? By this I mean can you update the old macbook to the lastest os or is it like the ipads where ipad 1 can no longer be updated?

Is there any other negatives with buying the older model?

I have a 2008 MacBook Pro that I just upgraded to Yosemite. Still working strong and fast. Great machines. I bought it as a last generation model same as you. I.e. The new model had just come out.

Eventually, you won't be able to put the current Mac OS on it, but it's usually a longer period than with iOS devices.

You can also run them on their "final" OS version for a long time with little trouble - I'm still running MacBook from 2006 on Mac OS 10.7.5 (latest OS it'll take) and it runs fine (surfing and email) - iOS devices seem to struggle more when upgraded to their final iOS version.
