This was just not a good idea:

    Rosamund Pike-

    slide_397634_4898478_compressed.jpg

I loved Lupita's makeup, her skin is just amazing- wasn't mad about her dress though. I can't decide on Emma Stone's tuxedo dress thing, I mean she looked amazing but it didn't really flatter her figure. It was so much better than Julia Roberts' tuxedo dress though, that was very ill-fitting. It was nice to see Jennifer Aniston is something less boring but I didn't love it- although again, her hair and figure are just amazing.

I loved Reese Witherspoon, Viola Davis (her hair! LOVE the fro!), Danielle Brooks, Julianne Moore, Claire Danes and Joanne Froggat. But Felicity Jones was my favourite- so elegant and simple, totally timeless.

Never have I seen more sour looking miserable faces on TV than those dissecting the fashion from last nights red carpet on xpose. Wretched miserable the lot of them, not a nice thing to say about anyone.

Loving the choice of colour on Julianne moore.

I didn't see it but I have to laugh thinking of them being so critical of the various actresses. I mean come on, Aisling is really not a good presenter, Glenda makes ZERO effort with her wardrobe (the other day she wore a grey t shirt and a messy bun) and don't get me started on your man! I think Lisa is ok- she can be a bit cheesy but overall she's grand. I'm not saying they're not entitled to dislike something, but they should be a bit more professional in their approach.

If you can't dress nicely for a show about fashion then I can't take your opinion on the dresses seriously tbh. They annoy me anyway.

I'd much rather watch Fashion Police on E! than Xpose.

Stop the guy they have on it now is chronic. He annoys me just looking at him. I met Lisa once on a night out and she was absolutely lovely!

Should do a Fashion Police episode, boards-style! Boardsies get together and chat awards style. Way better than them on tv3!!:D

I'm available for whenever this happens! None of my friends can understand my obsession with the red carpet and award season! I don't know how I got through it without ye boardsies!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,186 ✭✭✭dee_mc

My mum loves critiquing their looks too but she gets distracted by people looking 'terribly old', as in, I'll say 'Meryl Streep's dress is stunning isn't it' and she'll be like 'never mind the dress, what's happened to her face, and check out the hair, she looks TERRIBLY old! If I had her money and access to salons and surgeons... how old is she anyway?' ...yadda yadda yadda, all interest in dresses gone! Thank God for boardsies!

+1 to this. My friends don't pay any heed when I start harping on about the red carpet season . . . . . . "....Emma stone wore a couture Dior gown.....she really nails it when it comes to the red carpet. Remember that yellow Versace gown from a few years ago.........she always looks amazing when it comes to award shows and premieres"

    *tumbleweed* and blank faces :pac::pac:

F&A offers a great outlet for sharing this vital information :)

Dee your mam sounds just like mine!! My friends think I'm daft too. Like they'll be like oh didn't such and such look nice and I'll be like ya but I wish she had her hair up or I wish it was tailored more to her figure and they just stare at me like what are ya on. I love it so much tho. Couldn't really give a toss about who wins the awards just show me the dresses!
So looking forward to the Oscars red carpet already :)

Julianne Moore green dress is amazing on her

Jennifer Aniston has looked incredible this awards season. The plunging gold dress has been my favourite. She is just such a stunning looking woman and yeah, she has probably had some help but she hasn't gone completely bananas on it and doesn't look like a cartoon character. She tends to stick with her safe black dress look which she rocks like no other so it's nice to see her in different colours and styles.

    o-JENNIFER-ANISTON-570.jpg?1

Considering how much publicity Rosamund Pike has been getting this awards season, her choices have been really poor. The cut out white gown she wore to the Golden Globes (I think) was just so unflattering on her.

Christine Baranski and Helen Mirren both looked so elegant in the red dresses at the Golden Globes.

Not popular opinions but I think Keira Knightley's pregnant style is really retro and really suits her and I hated Amal's gloves.

I always have a good laugh at the pretend celebs with no job other than to be seen who show up at the after parties for the various awards shows basically half naked.

Baftas tonight. Had a quick flick through some photos of the red carpet and this stood out to me. Laura Bailey:

    e910101f-7dec-4b8a-bf15-33e781264814-1318x2040.jpeg

I don't know who she is though. :(

And I liked Serge from Kasabian's take on black tie, complete with tail.

    enhanced-6968-1423421124-1.jpg

The Grammys red carpet is on E at 11.

A good lot of the BAFTA dresses can be seen here:

    http://www.vogue.co.uk/spy/celebrity-photos/2015/02/08/bafta-awards-2015-dresses

I like Felicity Jones and Edith Bowman.

Disappointed with Julianne Moore who usually gets it bang on. She just seems so lovely though.

And on another note entirely- Tom Hiddleston and Henry Cavill... sigh...

    An extremely small lift.;)

Oh Henry, I just wanna fix your bow... by taking it off of course :P

Anywayyyy I think Diane Argon or Alma Jodorowsky looked the best actually. A fairly disappointing night. The men seemed to outdo a lot of the ladies.

Eddie Redmayne's missus had a lovely dress on

    2578AE0400000578-2939792-image-m-91_1423418947973.jpg

Natalie Dormer's dress is lovely apart from the blue part and the gloves

And again, I love Keira's maternity style

Madonna. Emphasis on the Mad. Just no.

I thought Gwen Stefani looked amazing too although I also thought she looked much thinner than usual... She is stunning though.

Was Miley Cyrus not wearing any make-up? That's okay if you have good skin but her skin looks really greasy and dirty, particularly around her chin.

    257CD2B600000578-2938468-image-m-185_1423448447185.jpg

What on earth is Rihanna wearing? When I see big dresses like that I always think of the poor people sitting next to her with a dress all puffed up in their faces.

    WTF?

The dress is good but the hair is awful

So weird seeing Courtney Cox there

God I just feel very sad looking at Giuliana. That can't be normal, I don't care how "naturally thin" someone is. She seems like a lovely person. I hope she's alright. :(

She's teeeeeeny!! At least her arms are covered. They look like little twigs...think they make her look even skinnier. Is it stress? Flu?

Lea is stunning! The dress kinda reminds me of Michelle Williams' Vera Wang (I think) canary yellow dress from the Oscars a couple of years ago. She looked fab!! As Shaz says, not everyone can pull off yellow.

I was going to say the same thing on both counts.

Loved that dress on Michelle Williams, always reminds me of how cute her and Heath Ledger were together.

I just didn't really like the cut out bits. It was stunning otherwise though. The colour is amazing. I also thought of Michelle Williams- her whole look that night was perfect. Very sad looking back at the pictures though :(

    Not publicly anyway.
They were such a cute couple.
I think it's nice that she still has a piece of him in Matilda and she could her hair short for him too.

Love Felicity Jones's style too. Also really liked Eddie Redmayne's wife's dress.

what do people think of this trend for 'cleavage showing'.(e.g. Jennifer Aniston/ Julianne Moore at last night's BAFTA's....seems more prevalent this year for some reason. As a woman, can't say I like it too much tbh

She fell going up the steps and still looked stunning.

    At the Berlin Film Festival.

For the Grammys, what the hell were Madonna and Rihanna thinking?! Rihanna looked like one of those old school toilet brush covers!

I loved Taylor Swift's dress. Such a beautiful colour!
