most of Leinster received little or nothing. Select parts of south Dublin and North Meath got lucky with enough snow to at least make a few snowballs.
Next week is far from set in stone but hopefully we will all get something to save this winter.

    Tut tut,

Plenty was had in Laois which is in Leinster too! :D

    Kermit.
I note on here and on met e that they say snow on the leading edge, then back to rain and then potentially snow again in east and in parts of the north.
Is it too early to say it will be snow rain snow, or snow rain or just all day snow?
When are we likely to know?
This is what i have been lurking about trying to find out.

    Thanks

I was coming home the other day and was looking up towards Killeshin and it just looked so pretty, a white blanket over the hills as far as ye could see!

Then the bastarn rain came and washed it all away! :(

As much as I love snow as evidenced by my dedication to this thread. How much are we expecting in Sligo I have to travel on Saturday morning across country is this a long laying, frosty-you'd be mad to drive - event?

don't think it will snow here from that band moving south, temps too high at 3C and dewpoints about 1 or 2C judging from that map.

    Hi

Could be any of the above.
When are we likely to know?

Hard to say. Sunday morning probably before we know for sure. Can't be specific about it yet unfortunately.

    2155 update from met eireann

Winds will continue to ease overnight and there will be some clear spells,, but further showers, or longer outbreaks of rain and sleet also, turning to sleet and snow in places by morning, especially in parts of the north and west. Very cold and frosty, with a risk of icy stretches. Minimum temperatures minus 2 to plus 2 Celsius.

that band has just reached here now and it's rain.

Rain turning increasingly to sleet here in north Dublin.

dont think it will snow in sligo like Tuesday 13th January again this Winter.

That was every bit as much as we had here in 2010, I know Dublin got lots then but Sligo didnt.

As for tonight temperature was down to 2.4c at 7pm now its 5.7c so snow chances decreasing tonight but maybe if its 1c or 0c at dawn with a dewpoint of 0c.

Maybe wintry hail that lies and not the melty stuff of now will greet me when i wake up.

Since my birthday on 10th January the weather has gone mental after drab months before.

As for Sunday and Monday. The East Coast could get a lot of snow if the Lows go right
