Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

'NYCFC You aint got no history' chant from the Orlando fans :o

I have things in my medicine cabinet older than both of these teams. Combined.

That Kaka free kick 5 mins ago was a pathetic effort

The game itself, Kaka and Rivas are still all trending on Twitter in the UK. Im sure they will be delighted with the viewing figures and attention

They'll be happy now. Quality goal. Diskerud had probably been NYFC's best player too.

You can take the referee out of the LOI..

Yeah but they'll know they need quality games to get past the initial novelty phase.

3 bookings in one game for diving, yikes!

Alan Kelly is a fantastic ref. He 100% got the diving call correct. Was a definite red card too for the tackle.

    Kaka :D

63000 sell out crowd at that.
Watching Kansas V NY Red Bulls now. 25000 sell out crowd but could have sold twice that.

Mate of mine just text me saying this is Kansas' 54th consecutive sell out. That's astounding. Excellent stat.

This match is much better. Still no way I'm staying up past HT.

I for one look forward to the steady stream of 'Robbie Keane being ridiculous' clips on Facebook.

Was a good game in terms of end to end but both sides were really missing some quality, NY are gonna miss Henry and Cahill massively, need another front man to help out BWP.

I think they are based in New Jersey

The baseball field converted into a soccer pitch really looks horrible.

Diskerud and David Villa were the best players on the park.

    Both looked a class apart.

Yeah, Diskerud was the best player last week too. Villa could have had 4 or 5 and I'm not even exaggerating when I say that. Revolution only looked good for the last 15 or 20 minutes of the 1st half.

Hey guys I'm kind of thinking of following this seriously this year, what's the standard like?

Very entertaining. The teams wouldn't hold up against your top half Premier League/La Liga/Bundesliga teams at all but its largely exciting end to end football played on the deck. New York v New England was a very good advert for that. The class of lads like Villa and Kaka will only add to the spectacle aswell.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,184 ✭✭✭✭Pighead

I'm not a regular MLS viewer but watched the New York Game this evening and it was very enjoyable. Yer man Tierney who plays with Revolution is a ridiculously good crosser of a ball. He put at least four perfect crosses into the box two or three of which should have led to a goal and his corners were on the money all night. Villa will score a lot of goals this year you'd imagine. Should have had a hatrick tonight but he was a tad rusty and his touch let him down a couple of times.

Unbelievable finish to the Timbers-Galaxy game! Portland thought they'd won it with a 90th min winner but LA pegged it back to 2-2 2 minutes later!

Pissed off I didn't stay up for the 2nd half!!!

Had Galaxy at 10-1 when 1-0 down, they should have been out of sight after HT.

Portland Timbers is a ridiculous name for a football team.

To be fair the vast majority of North American sports teams have ridiculous names. Except Toronto FC.

New York City FC also going down the more traditional English route.

Their mascot is a real lumberjack with a tree stump on the sideline. He saws a piece of every time they score a goal.

i think Portland Timbers is a great name for a team as it makes a reference to the area it's based in. Names like The Oilers, Steelers etc are much better than the team having a name that has no relevance to the city it represents.

Could be 1st time in 11 years there is no Mexican team in the CONCACAF version of Champions League and an MLS team making the final for the 5th time

    Currently it is
Montreal Impact (CAN) 2 V 0 Alajuelense (CRC) at HT in 1st leg

Other semi last night it was
Herediano (CRC) 3 V 0 Club America (MEX)

I've supported the NY Red Bulls for about 15 years now, go to 5-6 games a year. Major upheaval with the former coach getting the sack and a big turnover of player losing the likes of Henry and Cahill. Heading to the home opener on Sunday.

Kevin Doyle has signed for Colorado Rapids, will link up mid summer when out of contract with Wolves.

Prob the best move he could have hoped for given the direction his career has taken and that hes getting on in years. I'll back him to be banging them in again over there.

Thats a fair few Irish lads over there now giving it a crack

    -Robbie Keane (Galaxy)
    -Kevin Doyle (Rapids)
    -Andy o'Brien (White Caps)
    -Sean St.Ledger (Orlando)
    -Darren o'Dea (previously of Toronto)
O'Brien and O'Dea are gone. So right now its Keane and St Ledger and also Shane O'Neill for Colorado.

3 years ago Doyle was a rumoured 20 million target for Arsenal.

Madness how his career panned out.

Anyone know what happened the highlights show on Sky Sports? Wasn't in last week & see no schedule this week for it either. I was quite enjoying it.

L.A. Galaxy lost 1-0 to D.C United. I'd say they missed Robbie!

    Talk about bad refs

    RelievedSickKite.gif

1st leg of the CONACAF Champions League final clean through on goal and only a yellow card.

Well done to the Impact keeping it to 1-1 in Mexico, 2nd leg sold out in Montreal for an expected 59000 fans

Hard to know who to shout for here.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,172 ✭✭✭wadacrack

no not watching that. anyone see the previous game. Toronto-Houston. Gilles Barness who used to play at Derby and was regarded as a great talent in England was playing in the 10 for Houston. He looked by far the best player on the pitch, seems to be doing really well out there

    Every single one.

Don't forget though that you're living in a country where the national anthem was played after discos up until very recently.:p
