No I do think your right unfortunately! But sure we can all hope!

Yep, fingers crossed! The progression letters headed out this week and the news of £160 mill for the PSNI is good news though, so let's hope they use it for what we all desperately want!

What sort of score are you sitting on in C2 buddy?

60-61 so I'm being really optimistic lol

You all know where I stood with this campaign a few weeks ago and now I feel like I'm between a rock and a hard place. So many questions going through my head and it would be interesting to see what Shield thinks, hint hint ;)

Why would they progress us when they had over 500 candidates with AC scores above us and much lower attrition rates due to PCA repeats? Are they doing this cos they have to be seen to give everyone who passed the AC the same chance and effectively we're wasting our time as we already know that they've more than enough candidates to fill the quota for C2? Why would they exhaust this merit list and not C1's? Are we better to focus on C3 and the upcoming IST and AC? Could they possibly get us all progressed through before the end on the financial year?

Tbh I think I'm still in the same mind set, C2 is done for me but I'm keeping up with the training just in case lol. Hope I'm wrong but I think that's my friends mums lifelong saying rubbing off on me...."hope in one hand, piss in the other and see which one fills first" :P I guess it's back to the old stalking boards and watching emails for news of on line learning again and vetting papers.

I'd say Mop if you getting progression letters they are thinking of processing you, once my letter came through it moved very quickly, keep the faith, don't forget they probably have enough number for intakes until March already processed but for new financial year April onwards they don't that where I reckon these latest progression letters are for if not sooner.

C3 will probably not start with intakes until July/August at earliest by time all stages complete if even then.

With new funds available they can build the numbers of serving officers back to the level they realistically need :)

There are only 2 explanations that makes sense to me on this.

1 - Just as an illustration to try and make this easy to understand: If you got to 6 on the 1-10 progression scale, and there are others from C3 on 5, then they're going to try and save money by taking people on step 6 and moving them forward one step. Each step is a cost the organisation must meet from their own budget - from administrative work, to logistical planning for PCAs, to Vetting, and so on. Rather than pay for people on step 5 of the progression scale to progress to step 6, why not just take the people on step 6 already? They did the AC already!

2 - Contingency. Someone crunching numbers has realised that there may not be enough people left in the merit pool when the application progress is complete, so rather than take people with low merit numbers, why not take those who had solid and consistent scores throughout, and move them forward instead?

Again - the above is just me thinking out loud.

    -Shield.

What Shield said, I have heard as well that although the attrition rate is very high now, a lot more have fallen at vetting, and also a lot of no shows now, it's been a while since we started this process, so people could have moved on from then, I have 2 mates who failed the assessment centre and within 6-9 weeks for applying for police Scotland were in tullyallen college, and are out already so those that didn't quite make it for the psni last December/January are already half way through probation with Police Scotland that's the time scales we're dealing with here, which is kinda mental lol, but yeah mop don't question it, they won't progress unless they have money, and recruitment I believe is a priority now.

Funny I was looking at board re Police Scotland recruitment. One poster had attended the AC one day and got results back the next day

Why does the PSNI process seem more complex/lengthy? Volume of applicants, enhanced vetting??

I hope everyone waiting gets the news they want.

Yeah literally takes 6-9 weeks to get in, they have full teams dedicated to recruitment and they need numbers badly, and can't get the interest that here would generate. I genuinely don't know why it takes long I have family who said it never took this long for them, It takes way too long to be honest and vetting for some doesn't take that long, like example mod police requires advanced vetting for every officer, were advanced vetting would only come into specialisms here, and advanced vetting for a lot of mdp recruits is quite quick, I genuinely don't know why here is so long, it shouldn't be, but it is, I've many a time thought of dropping from here and heading for Scotland but then the letter came and I nipped it in the bud lol

These forums are going to be the death of me haha.... Every time I hear the ping of an new email I automatically now think 'ahhh someone must have got vetting forms' haha. It's now like C1 all over again....

For anyone who got the progression letters in September, how long did it take between getting the progression letter and vetting forms or PCA invite etc?

In relation to why we got progression letters and the likely hood of getting a place, if you had have asked me a few weeks back I would have said Noway C2 is over for me. But now with getting the letter and hearing some gossip about recruitment from a few sources, I think c2 is wide open, If what I have heard is correct, then they want The last squad to be May, and allow July and August to be empty of students which gives them 2 months to do any work on GV now that the new training college isn't going ahead. C3 recruits will start at end of August . This was subject to funding, which now seems to have been secured for recruitment and the work needing done to GV. (just Rumor I know, but sort of makes sense).

I got my progression letter 2 days before C3 opened up at the end of september and had my vetting forms within 7 days, online learning within 7 also and my PCA is this week and the letter for it came before I got my vetting forms away so about 3 weeks after the progression letter I got my PCA date. Hopefully it'll be ok and I'll get my medical before crimbo and then I'm just waiting on my vetting to clear! The ball will get moving really fast now for those others getting progressed!

Online learning through here too - looks like it'll shorten the long winter nights for a few weeks! Waiting on a call from home to say if anything has arrived in the post today!

Nothing in the post today for me but online is here with a very ironic date lol

Just seen George Osbourne said that across the water the budget for policing will not involve any cuts, and that it is "now a time to, back our police" wise decision, I know this has no bearing on us here in NI, as policing is under the NI office, but the potential scale of cuts English and Welsh forces were facing was crazy.

Are you guys getting online learning for 14050? That's before PCA and Medical isn't it?

I was 2 or max 3 months between online learning, PCA and medical. And a further month to phone call there last week. So you guys aren't far away! Hopefully you get the call before they close 14050.

I done the IST for 15090 there recently and it was def harder than last year.

Yeah got online learning today, I'm if not wrong I think the last group who got progression letters had their PCA date within 6 weeks of getting the progression letter.

Anyone else get only the online learning and not the vetting?

Me my lovely. Online learning emails today but nothing other than B&Q leaflets through the door :(

It took me 2 years from applying in C1, to graduating GV. It's a lengthy process but bear with them.

Here's what I think, although I can't give my reasons.... GV are expecting new intakes every 5 weeks until May from C2. In May the list will end and C3 will move in towards the end of August.

That's roughly the way C1-C2 worked out too.

I've been in your position. Just waiting for emails, letters, phone calls. Wondering if it's even worth it. So much time and effort. I promise you now it's all worth it. GV is a blast and out on the streets is even better. Making a difference in people's lives is what makes it all worth it. Hang in there peeps

Same here mop! I didn't think it would have been that long! For those that have completed vetting, have you filled in N/A for every empty box or just in the ones that applied directly to you?

My first day out on the ground was two calls. A firearms incident and then a bomb. Unfortunately it happens all too often
