Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Wrong decision from Henderson...Chandsome was the option.

On target that was in from Coutinho.

Why is Can out wide now?

Hopefully Balotelli can get a goal.

    Why always Mario?

Borini off after another amazing contribution.
Sunderland will offer £20m in the player's lounge after the game.

I'm a Liverpool fan and want Liverpool to win. But the main thing that stands out here (and the final result doesn't matter) is how bad Sunderland are.

This is a very very worrying Sunderland performance. I don't give them much notice and just assume Poyet is doing ok there, but what is he doing here? We have Borini up forward. They are standing off and playing like we're Barcelona.

    Nice turn by Mario there.

Balloteli must have the lowest shots to conversion rate in football

Does Ballotelli have a good record with 40 yard frees or something

Love to see the stats. Lucas must have intercepted about 478 balls at this stage. Very underrated.

Thought Borini did alright. Constant movement, looked for space, harassed defenders.

He's no world beater, but he did a job.

Why do we keep letting Balotelli hit free kicks from 40 yards!?

Jesus. The lad is no use and that's it.

He was Borini. Never looks like he's going to score for all his running.

We won't see this game out with a clean sheet.

All out attack when a goal up

Unless there's a bonus point for another goal shut up shop

I thought a striker's job was to score goals and harass goalkeepers?

I'm really annoyed at the performance, but just for some perspective here's a few reasons that may outline why we have been so poor:

    1) Our best player by a comfortable distance, the one who dictates everything in the middle for us, is out injured.

    2) Fletcher is out, which means Wickham plays up top. Now that's not a bad thing in itself, but it leads to point 3.

    3) With Wickham playing up top, he is taken from out wide where he had been playing quite well this season. Giaccherini has always been poor defensively and this is a key reason why he hasn't played anywhere near the amount of games he should have, but he plays today as a result of the positional changes.

    4) Giaccherini's poor defensive ability coupled with van Aanholt's poor defensive ability and love of going forward have ensured that Liverpool basically have free reign down our left hand side, where Markovic has had so much joy in the first half.

An awful performance though, of that there is no doubt. We're tough to beat for the most part (hence the 11 draws in 20) but we lack creativity to create chances and have done for some time.

The more I see Can Markovic and Lallana(granted he's not playing today) the more I wonder why did it take till the turn of the year for them to get a run in the team , were they that awful in training !?!?

That only works if you defend well under pressure. Would not work for us

He did whack one in once for Inter. Therefore he thinks he can do it all the time.

Someone needs to tell coutinho it's between the white sticks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,395 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Coutinho pulls about 80% of his shots. Like a golfer who constantly pulls his tee shot.

Still feel all these wasted opportunities will ruin us here.

I'm sitting in the same chair in the same pub as I was when Jagielka scored that screamer against us

Lucas & Sakho get back into the team over the last few games and we look so much better at the back.

Not perfect but a lot better.

    Cue fcuk up now.

A detailed description and one I won't argue with as you know more about Sunderland. But this performance is about attitude as well and I feel that's down to Poyet.

Sunderland have not tested our defence at all or even try to pressurise us once. Even now, there's nothing from Sunderland.

At least give the fans something to shout about and get behind and then kick on from there.
