A Soarer (as just suggested by another poster) is a good one indeed:

    toyota_soarer_1650123_orig.jpg

The Soarer above is arguably much more timeless than the one that followed.

Audi convertible has lasted better than Diana's fashion sense (or Diana).

I'd agree with toastedpickles about the 9-5, but everyone posting those Nissan Silvas needs to have another look. I think they're desperate looking yokes, and I see one in the flesh every day because my next door neighbour has one.

This pic is from the Paris motor show 06, almost a decade ago. Still looks fresh.

Last one for tonight, could easily imagine a 151 plate on this:

    BMW_E63_front_20071125.jpg

    It launched in 03

A huge amount of these cars are let down by their wheels. If they had more modern wheels, they'd look bang up to date.

The Defender is timeless as they've been making it for 60 odd years, so you will actually see 151 reg's.

The below is in a similar boat. the Toyota 70 series.

    MK3 Vectra

    MK2 Mondeo (owned a 1998 Zetec 2.0ltr)

Vauxhall Cavalier MK3 facelift. I had one when I was a teenager loved these cars and I would have one again tomorrow if I could. Very hard to find one that some boy/girl racer hasn't ruined with a body kit.

Some of you may find this interesting but there's a 6th generation Toyota Corolla RHD vehicle in Thurles that's actually registered as a 1998. There's also a big RHD 2000 Nissan Sunny (the size of a Nissan Maxima weird rare car and judging by the number plate wrote down somewhere its an original Irish reg car)

Here's a better one of a facelift fto. I'll take it with any plate.

    Again more deluded owners.
Audi "squarebox 80" 80? Really? It's called the 80 for a reason, it was designed for then :P

00's Vectra and mondeo? I want some of what you're smoking, it's obviously powerful.

The 6 series I would agree with, and IMO it joins the A2 as the only other credible 151 car, which is afterall the point of the thread.

Accusations of credibility in this forum? Careful now! ;-)

The original mondeo looked dated in the 90's never mind in 2015. I agree with the 6 series too, BMW did well in the early- mid 00's. The e60 was controversial when it was launched as it was ahead of its time, its fits in nicely now. Better looking than the f10 IMO. But we all know the E39 is king :)

Not really. I remember 1993 the first time I ever seen one upfront and got into it. Was a blue estate and looked super cool. The MK3 Granada was pretty dated in the 1990s. There was a 1995 Granada recently on DoneDeal (they were discontinued in 1994 so it would be very rare)

Oh other cars that looks ageless. Peugeot 607, 407 and 406.

Small tweak to these cars in 04 shaved years off it . Still looks fresh today imo

So far for me at least, it's the A2, the 6 series and I think the c30 has held up well. The C30 was a cracking looking car when it came out, and still looks fresh. Although it's not the oldest of cars...

Stick a 151-D-1234 reg on her and no one would be any the wiser.

    That's it.
If there was one thing reliable, imo it is the unreliability of the motors forum!

While not passing the 151 plate test, the 406 Coupe looks very well for it's age (from 1996)

    peugeot-406-coup-13.jpg

Similarly, the A6 from 1997 looks very well these days too IMO.

i think this freelander ended in 07 but i think it could wear a 151 reg and people wouldn't look twice. for now, but certainly not forever.

Thousands of parts in an engine cleve. N47 was one on the first high reving, ultra linear diesels on the market. It's the engine toyota chose when they decided to outsource diesels, and whose head engineering is on record as saying it is a superior to their in house offering.

I have an early N47 with 200k miles that only now is having its chain looked at, and it's not as expensive a job as it's made out to be.

Tbh I'd take the Toyota engine any day of the week. Don't know what Toyota (of all companies)were thinking when they decided to put those things in their cars.

Come to think of it. I was looking at these yolks too and they would pull off 151 plate too.

Ha, yes Toyota head of engineering should have created a boards thread. He obviously hasn't a clue.

Don't care if I get stick for this, but IMO you might just get away with a 151 reg on this one, the Mercedes C111 from 1977. This one could even be earlier, the first one of those came out in the 60's!

Mmm. Could pass for a Lambo of pretty much any era. The only thing that dates it is those wheels - they remind me of a Mk. II Escort rally car. :pac:

Don't mind the wheels so much, what really gives it away are those flimsy chrome mirrors, very 70's. Work the bumpers a bit, add molded plastic mirrors and maybe wheels, it wouldn't look too far off.
The 70's where so much more futuristic than today. :pac:

The mark 1 Audi TT was launched in 1998. Not its biggest fan but it has aged well.

    It doesnt look new though.

Surely ageless is not the same as new, anyways all incredibly subjective either way, I wouldn't be so fast to slate others opinions because they don't match up with what you specifically feel on the topic, if someone hadn't seen a car before possibly everything on this thread would be ageless.

    Right.
Well an ageless car is by definition one that does not age.
A box on wheels or a melted plastic on wheels looks very aged.
