Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Louis Van Gaal has a major selection dilemma this Sunday; In that he has to actually pick a team himself rather than let the injury list dictate one. All but Ashley Young are available for United, although some of the returning players like Blind, Fellaini, Rojo and Shaw are lacking in match fitness.

Many predicted Southampton to fold by now out of the top 4 and they have showed recent signs of capitulating, but they have also showed that they are still capable of challenging for the top 4, and it should be a shock to nobody if they leave Old Trafford with a point or 3.

My own hopeful prediction; United to win 2-1 or 3-1.

the way the team was set up last time we played Southampton was all wrong, hopefully it's not the same tomorrow

3-1 United.. Think we will perform well at home again.

If we play 3 CBs against this lot we will struggle like we did last time.

5 at the back until it doesn't work. Then a United win.

Yup, if we play 5 at the back we'll not do well. Draw.

Massive game, think we can grind out a win but can't see us keeping a clean sheet. 5 at the back has to go. Would love to see Herrera start think this is the kind of game he could have a big impact in.

Was the previous encounter the game where Utd switched formation at half time because the 3 at the back was being totally destroyed?

Did LVG start the first few games of the season playing a diamond 4-3-3? I think he will go with that. Predicting...

    ..
indeed it will be interesting to see if he goes for Herrera or Fellaini

Maybe Fellaini as they have issues defending set pieces

None of the players coming back from injury will start IMO.

Yea i think he would prefer Fellaini in there, wether he is fully fit after a broken rib is another thing

  • Di maria to start hopefully

No excuses today. Most fit players we've had all season. 3-1 United.

Fancy a few goals in this one, especially with most players coming back. Keep a back 4 and I'd go for 3-1.

1/2 #MUFC team news: hearing Blind Rojo and Di Maria all played in training line-up y'day so COULD start, Falcao on bench with Valdes...

    @sbates_people · 9m 9 minutes ago

2/2 Looking like Mata to get nod over Falcao with Rooney to partner RVP in attack with Di Maria in support. Blind or Carrick in back 3?

Rooney playing as an actual striker? Yes please.

Gary neville seems to think LVG will stick with 3-5-2. Interview on ssn

Since the opening day loss at Old Trafford, United have got 25 out of a possible 27 points with the only draw to Chelsea.

Hopefully Fort Trafford continues with another win.

Could it possibly be... 4 at the back???

Only two centre backs selected so nope. I assume Blind will play just in front of the back four?

  • Registered Users Posts: 581 ✭✭✭Mongo

Is that 3-5-2 with Carrick at CB or is it a flat back 4???

  • Could it possibly be... 4 at the back???

    Let's hope so

Mata, Rooney, Di Maria and RVP is an exciting looking front 4.

    4-3-1-2?

Sky Sports have it as a 3-5-2 with Blind on the left of the back 3.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,751 ✭✭✭newballsplease

Still think its 3-5-2 with carrick playing in back 3.
2 wing backs val and shaw.

Edit- blind in back three so instead of carrick

Di Maria up top with Rvp.

I still like the look of it. Not having Evans is great. Blind should be more comfortable on the ball.

    Falcao injured by the looks.

Oh great, Smalling keeps his place. That should be fun.

Could be resting Falcao, strange one if that is the case.

    Falcao injured by the looks.

He picked the short straw as the one to keep Young company

He's been rested all year! Hope we fork out the cash for him. It's a no brainer.

No Rafael neither, is there a South American holiday specific to Brazil and Columbia we don't know about?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,882 ✭✭✭Saipanne

Falcao was supposed to have scored 57 goals, by now.

    What happened?

This will be won or lost in Midfield.

Hope we get the victory. Don't care how we get it but it would be a huge 3 points.

Can't see us keeping a clean sheet though so hope we create a few chances and take them this time.

    United to win 2-1

Very surprised by the bench for united. Can't believe that we have 3 defenders and no falcao.

  • Di maria 8/1 to score first

Can't see Blind playing at CB in this game, Carrick is more likely.
