Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. I remember when Big Val used to make those sort of runs almost every game, namely in his first season with us, it's great to see a little bit of that back in him again. Rooney's goal against the Scouse came from that very same thing.

Rooney has been ****. Leave Mata on the pitch, we need possession players against southampton.

United's arracking players are completely disjointed. No one knows who's doing what.

In fairness to smalling he's trying to play the ball in mid but players not making themselves available enough

Rooney in mid is driving me mad, both him and di maria are playing in the wrong position its so obvious

If mata had of kept going there instead of speaking could have been in
    Van Persie looking very sharp

**** sake Di Maria. Wake the **** up.

    Di Maria has been poor

Di Maria has been woeful and should be hooked at HT

It's like watching some kid unsuccessfully try to play a through ball game on Fifa.

Been pretty solid defensively.. Attacking wise a different story

Need more of that quality play from Mata in the second half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,184 ✭✭✭✭Pighead

Lots of people focusing on Rooney's poor play but Di Maria has been worse. Poor shooting, a couple of awful set piece deliveries (which he has been guilty of quite a few times in his Utd career) and losing possession pretty cheaply. He hasn't played much lately and it's showing.

Only positive from that half was that we were quite comfortable at the back and Southampton didn't create anything.

Other than that, we have been pretty poor. Got into good positions at times but not creating real chances.

What a load of boring sh*te. All the possession you want and still can't create a decent chance.
We are sh*t in the final third for a while now, no 2 ways about it.

  • Nice from mata there

All in all first half poor, formation is poor and playing players in incorrect positions doesn't help

    Lvg sort it out

Dreadful 45 minutes. Rooney and ADM particularly bad but that formation is horrible, especially at home.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,006 ✭✭✭edgecutter

3-5-2 isn't working and it seems that everyone can see that bar Van Gaal. Smiling and Jones have been the players that have seen the ball the most and we are never going to win games if that continues.

Rooney and Shan need to get their heads into the game, both have been poor. Hopefully Herrara will see some game time or a change of formation would be nice. Can't afford another draw.

Rooney and Di Maria have been disappointing

Mata and Rvp not flying but showing a lot of energy commitment. They seem up for it

I wish Shaw and Valencia had an end product

Anyone would be better than ADM

He is only back and looks the only player with pace that can cause southampton problems.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 15,237 Mod ✭✭✭✭FutureGuy

this game is made for Herrera.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

Pretty poor stuff. Southampton not creating much, solid without the ball but look capable of shooting themselves in the foot when they have it at the back. Fonte especially always looks like he has a mistake in him.

Poor stuff from Man Utd all around really. Mata has had a couple of moments but they've been fleeting, Di Maria's decision making has been woeful.

No reason to be playing it when the whole squad bar young is fit.

Rooney hasn't been that bad do Maria looks off the pace

    From Bbc commentary:

    Robbie Savage
BBC Radio 5 live at Old Trafford
    Man Utd 0-0 Southampton
    Posted at
"How great it is for two teams third and fourth in the Premier League table to see so many Academy products in both starting line-ups."

Number of players in United's starting line up from the academy: zero.

Nice bit of trolling there !

Very disappointed in shaw to be honest. Thought he would be really up for this game. No end product and just turns back to blind everytime.

Rooney hasn't been that bad do Maria looks off the pace

Rooney seems to hate a simple pass even if it's the best option, too many times trying a fancy chip forward or a diagonal ball to the right where it's led to nothing.
Swap him with ADM who's pace through the middle from deep will cause problems.

    Can't be serious?

United have been poor in general. Rooney hasn't been that much worse than the rest tbh.

    Time for a creame egg

See that the packs of 6 that they used to sell has now been cut down to 5 and sold at same price? Outrageous.

This is more entertaining than that first half

RVP and Di Maria had a couple of good link up chances, fml I hate the ads on Sky Ireland.

Why isn't Falco not in the squad? Injured?

Oh I thought the packs of three had been replaced with packs of five, and cost a little bit more.

Di Maria has been very off the boil since even before his injury. Hopefully he can find some semblance of form.

Unsurprising that Southampton have such a good defensive record. Good shape and the two in the middle screen well. Need to make sure they don't nick a goal before we get one or else it'll be a draw at best.

Maybe it's jusy me but utd fans are quicker to criticise rooney more than any othe like gerrard at liverpool
Honestly thought there was worse on the pitch maybe it's confirmation biases as I'm a closet rooney fan
