Having watched them a decent bit this season I have no reason to think they will drop off bar an injury crisis, on the merits of their play they will be their at the end of the season IMO.

His going forward mode today has been MotM quality. ;)

Probably Valencia and Carrick have been United's best players today

We don't have CL this year and the wheels are still on the bus. Funny how Liverpool fans pray for us to get worse instead of them to get better.

One even two seasons will do no damage. After that it's impossible for any club even United to maintain spending \ wages etc. It then becomes really difficult for all manner of reasons. I think United have done the right thing in investing heavily to try bounce back into the top 4 straight away but it does come with risk.

    TSC jinxed this game.

In Cavan there was a great fire / Judge McCarthy was sent to inquire / It would be a shame / If the nuns were to blame / So it had to be caused by a wire.

Formation didn't work 5 weeks ago in the away game, same again today. What is wrong with the man!

To be fair to southamton they played very well, but our slow build up and formation has to go as we have been saying for weeks.

    Great result for the Saints.

Utd were abysmal. Route one football when there is so many footballers in the team, bizzare stuff

Absolute bull**** performance from United. No shot on target in the whole game! Pathetic.

    That was ****

Southampton played well, if they didn't deserve it today they definitely deserved it from the last time the two met

No I'm not, if I was there would have been curse words :)

  • Hold my hands up we were awful again today, lack of any creativity and the formation has to be questioned as well as playing players in the wrong positions
    Lvg got it all wrong

Credit to Southampton, that was a professional performance for a team who now have to be taken seriously for cl next year, everyone thought they would slow down when they had a slight blip before Xmas but they stormed back and are looking even stronger

Victor wanyama is one of the best bit of transfer business in years

Time to let the City and Pool fans to have their customary cirlejerk on a UTD match thread.

21 games in they have the best defensive record in the league. I think they'll just come up short but they are there on merit and are very very good side, wouldn't surprise me to see them come 4th. A draw probably would have suited Liverpool more.

    Good chance this year aswell

United appointed the wrong Dutch coach it seems

As complete an away performance as you'll see.

For all the praise for Southampton, they were gifted that win. They set up well and parked the bus a bit, but that United side should be breaking them down.

A loss has been coming for a while and LVG needs to ask himself if sticking to his guns on 532 is doing the team any favours.

Really felt we were going places when we played some nice football in November, but it has been turgid **** since the middle of December, when we religiously stuck to a niche formation that next to no quality managers ever employ.

With 9 points From the last six games, we don't need you to get worse.

Very unfair. Southampton were defensively superb and have been doing that all season. Definitely didn't park a bus, a car or even a bicycle.

That was worse than anything I ever watched under Moyes. Awful awful stuff.

After we went behind, not one single player wanted the ball in the final 15 minutes, not one single player tried to create something. It was basically hoof the ball as far as you can from Blackett, Valencia and Blind.

Carrick was awful again, he's a player who is great when you're 1 or 2 up but very sub par when chasing a game.

Rooney was shocking all game, a few Hollywood failed passes is all I remember from him.

No creativity anywhere today, Mata had the best chances and fluffed his lines as he has many times this season and last.

    Di Maria was invisible.

It still baffles me how Smalling still gets to play for United, he's one of the worst defenders I've seen play for United. Jittery and uncomposed in possession. Weak in the air,it almost seems he's afraid to attack the ball.

Valenica was as bad as he ever was, but his crossing today hit a new low which is now 2 miles below the bottom of the barrel.

    Absolute drivel.

We have more points than you, you do need us to get worse, it's kind of simple really. Granted it may be above your reach as far as the thought process goes, but there's nothing I can do for you to make it any simpler.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 15,238 Mod ✭✭✭✭FutureGuy

Continue to play great players out of position, continue to play on a system that stifles creativity and makes us depend on Valencia for width and killer balls and we can forget about Champions League football. Not over reacting, just staying a fact.

My fear is that 3-5-2 will continue not to work and LVG will be too stubborn to change it.

4-4-2. No ****, play players in their correct decisions. Buy a world class mid if available and get Rooney playing right up top. Put Di Maria in his preferred position.

Rooney reckons Utd deserved to win

Weird that you find this unfair. I meant no offence or any malice.

They have two defensive midfielders that don't pass the halfway line and screen the defence and their fullbacks spent most of the match in their own half as well. By default, they have a back six, which is at least a minibus. They created nothing apart from their goal.

There is nothing unfair about stating facts. They would have been happy with a draw and their excellent application of their tactics meant they went one better.

Great reult for them but that United team with that much of the ball should have broken them down.

9 times out of ten you posting contains some form of sarcasm
You have added absolutely nothing but unfunny jokes to this thread and then to declare you were being serious
