Just went back to check this again - has the wind blown the camera out of position - or does is periodically change position?

Edit: Oh it's back to it's original position.

So they've gone Red now. This is probably going to be pretty severe stuff, as in the whole stretch of coastline from Kerry to Donegal going to be impacted. Stay safe folks!

Conditions progressively worsening on mayo coast. A red alert should be issued.

That bush is taking a pounding. Hope everyone is being safe.

    I hope that was intentional.

Wind picking up here, north west county Dublin. Very little precipitation but the wind is very cold.

You don't get a shipping forecast with force 12 winds in Irish coastal waters without also getting a pretty strong storm on shore too.

See that Met Eireann have just issued a Red warning for the western coastal counties.
    Was there, gone again now.
I remember this from last year, random adding/deleting/backdating warnings.

This map gives a general illustration of my thinking about maximum wind gust speeds during the height of the storm. Some effort has been made to show higher speeds on exposed inland hills but would advise that you modify that if you live near higher terrain to your own experience with local effects in a southwest to west wind flow.

The general features of the expected pattern would be strongest winds near west coast and a corridor of relatively strong gusts from Galway to Dublin where terrain makes inland reach somewhat easier. The peak gusts shown on the south coast may be somewhat ahead of the timing elsewhere as they will tend to peak during the frontal passage this evening.

Orange covers up to 70 knots so will be interesting to see if many gusts recorded over it. It's on the edge and a fair call from the Met.

Edit: back to red again in line with what M.T's map in showing!

Been following this thread for a few days now.
Fair play to all concerned, be safe out there because i think this is going to be a bad one.
Has started to blow up here outside Sligo real bad.

Should Cork not be included in this warning considering it has a very large exposed coastline and shares high mountainous areas with Kerry along it's western border?

Wind is very noisy now, almost as angry as last Feb, some very strong gusts.

Would not allow the dog out in this weather !!

I wish I could be back in Spain........hopefully next month !

The wind and rain is continuing to get worse as I write
