If Cork Airport TAF is anything to go by it will get a bit worse for a while between 1800 and 2000 and then back to what we have now. It should ease off a little then sometime between 2300 and 0200.

Top of a hill and very open, so will get a bit of a hammering tonight.

We have a nice landscape behind us causing a funnel effect coming from the rear of the house, some neighbours completely exposed on high ground.
I'd be shocked if there's no structural damage around here tomorrow.
Even at this early stage some of the gusts are really intense.

Man I wish I could get a car and do some storm chasing with some proper equipment. Someday I'll do it with no regrets and document and record a storm such as this.
Btw is anyone any proper storm chaser going to chase this storm.

Remember to charge anything that needs charging in case the electricity goes, as in your phone, tablets, laptop etc.

I will be. I booked off tomorrow.

I'll probably head out later this evening around 11PM and stay in the Derry area as we're forecast very strong winds.

I'll then be along the North Coast before sunrise tomorrow as well.

Reminds me of last February, trees falling everywhere here in Kilkenny, wind would blow you over and we had an orange warning, Met Eireann put it red when we were in the middle of it and sheds being blown away...

I never like it when I see Cork getting it bad, usually transfers this direction.

I'm next to Cork airport and it's bad here. Can't imagine what it will be like later.

That 79 kts at Cork is an interesting outlier as mean speeds are only 30 kts. That gust is almost 50 kts above the mean, which seems a bit strange.

Just wondering now was it a typo on the ME website.

NOAA reporting 49 kts...which may be a better 'fit'? http://weather.noaa.gov/weather/current/EICK.html
