    What an exciting thread title.

Billie kicked it off :D Ironically DieselPowered was close behind.

Due to limitations of Boards vbulletien once we get over 10k posts (superthreads) we need to lock them and move them to new threads.

I have copied the last four pages of the last flightradar thread here to avoid confusion and the other thread locked to prevent problems.

And why is it called flightradar 2? Could ye rename it to 24?

I think that could be described as a mod getting something wrong :pac:

EDIT: I am very tempted to quash your boards.ie freedom of speech!

Andy G did the hard work of transferring the last few pages to the new thread to ensure continuity.

If "Flightradar24 Thread II" doesn't float your boat you can offer suggestions on a new thread title. So far we have suggestions of:

    -Flightradar24 neo
    -Flightradar24 NG

I'll be online after my late shift tomorrow and will gauge the preferred choice

    ***cough*** NEO

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,179 ✭✭✭✭fr336

I think the point at the moment is it is named FlightRadar2 thread rather than FlightRadar24 thread...I can't cope with this level of service I really can't

Neo sounds good to me. What is NG?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,370 ✭✭✭b757

    NG..

Mod note regarding post's such as 787's, a380's and the like also required, dozens of them pass through Irish airspace on a hourly basis so nothing new there.

A link to the FR24 FAQ would be great too.. :)

I personally think the current (fixed) name is perfect.

No Clare, but I'd imagine the gusts are similar at cork airport, as its been windy here since 6.

  • Registered Users Posts: 80 ✭✭dropzone

According to a post on the weather forums, Strongest gust on the 2300 reports is 54 knots at kinsale followed by 52knots at belmullet

I think at a time like this is reminds me of the ever increasing necessity to have seperate FR24 threads for key events, stand out stuff that aren't too regular an occurance (maybe the lowest of this might be the more extreme end of weather events) and a continuation of this thread for everyone to post as they wish and have discussion along with it. I think things are far too fast moving now for even those of us who are here far too much. I mean when I'm struggling to keep up something is wrong!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,179 ✭✭✭✭fr336

Shamrock go around at Cork now on the ground.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,558 ✭✭✭kub

Well what were the chances of that, the first go around on the new thread and its a flight into Cork?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,259 ✭✭✭✭JCX BXC

What do ye prefer? FlightRadar on desktop/laptop or on phone? Personally for me its phone, its handier and faster I find.

I much prefer the laptop as i have a bigger screen, its free :D and i can be listening to the appropriate ATC feed on another tab.

I tend to multitask, so I have boards.ie /some other website on my laptop with ATC playing, with fr on my phone. FR works better on my phone too, and I can't bring my laptop everywhere so it's handy for plane spotting.

Shannon based rescue 115 now also involved on the same task. nasty night for it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,226 ✭✭✭✭Oscar Bravo

Both rescue choppers Rescue 115 and 117 are en route to an incident 120 miles west of Mizen. both will be going into cork airport to refuel. safe trip to all on board

  • Registered Users Posts: 191 ✭✭Michael Angelo.

On the Marine Traffic site it is possible to follow the Coast Guard helicopters. It showed 115 landing at Castletownbere lighthouse helipad on route to the incident referred to above. Would this be to refuel or pick up crew??

Refuel I think, heading sw now at 80 knots, will probably not see it on Marine traffic when it goes further offshore

Is the reason for having two SAR for top cover?

Not sure if anyone noticed an A330-300 operated the EI147/146 legs for the first time, with EI-ELA taking the honours and with no issues encountered. :)
