Sorry to disappoint you, but Shannon had more commercial movements in 2014 than cork. Info here : https://www.iaa.ie/index.jsp?p=117&n=255

Cork's my favourite one to listen to after Dublin. Of course Dublin is ridiculously more busy, but Cork has plenty enough going on most of the time. Certainly more than Shannon!

It's the higher standard and ability of the EI pilots that you have to admire. Landing their machines on a little runway on the top of a hill with crazy cross winds.

All jokes aside......something needs to be done about traffic at Cork

So every other companies pilots who use Cork aren't to the same standard?

Do you not admire the braveness of a Ryanair pilot landing on Shannons south-Westerly facing, 3000m long runway? :):):)

Shannon has all different types of aircraft landing, for training, diversions, fuel stops etc, rather than the Usual EI and Fr planes at cork. If you want to be impressed, look at funchal airport.

Anyway Im not gonna let this turn into another cork vs Shannon thread.

Stobart's EI-REH is taking a jaunt from Edinburgh south, looks to be either heading for Manchester or else further south to Cardiff/Bristol. STK100P.

"Off Topic Thread #2", that's what this place should be called since you all are looking for a new name.

All of these are at 600kt+. Some over 650kt. Looks like they may pick up even more speed as they catch that jet stream.

    Indeed.

This the FR24 thread....not the DUB wildlife thread, not the ORK vs DUB thread.

I will be deleting OT post tomorrow morning.

Lets keep this thread focused on FR24 information and events.

It is, but it's normally done by Star Air, I think it's daily and comes in from Cologne.

You're right, N744AX on is a sub to operate the Cologne - Dublin - Shannon UPS package flights for a few weeks.

Came over from the USA last week, I think it's filling-in for OY-SRJ.

Also, Star's only B763 OY-SRS is in Shannon at present for tech work.

A rare one inbound from the west now

Over on the NI Aviation forum they tracked this one into Belfast and then on to Cairo!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,197 ✭✭✭arubex

Keep an eye on this rare bird, one of 2Excel's pollution-control 727s is airborne out of Doncaster. Looks like an air test

That's why there are extra aircraft showing up..
New requirement for aircraft with a MTOW above 5700KG or that have a TAS of above 250knots to be fitted with ADS-B.

Just heard an ATC communication to say they had found a hole in the runway, hence the switch

That's why there are extra aircraft showing up..

But it's not just ADS-B a/c; there are Army Air Corps Islanders and Gazelles appearing too, which are Mode-S only and under the mandatory thresholds.

Likewise, RAF Eurofighter Typhoons are not fitted with ADS-B and only a small fraction of the Tucano fleet is.

Conversely, an IAC CN235 went over my house today and it is still hidden by FR24.

My opinion is that it's a bug in their back-end systems and will be fixed soon.

There was a A320 freighter at the cargo ramp today, I didn't get a close look but it had a red tail with a white A, looked smart from a distance anyway!

There's a Stobart looping near cork! Is their too much snow on the runway? How was the cork snow barrier breached?
