If a standing order fails, when does it attempt to be sent again? Does it wait until the next scheduled month or should it try again the following week etc?

    Thanks,
    ckiwi

    Hi ckiwi,

    Thanks for your post.

If a standing order fails on the scheduled date, it will not re-present and you would need to make alternative arrangements to cover that particular payment. The standing order will then process as normal on the next scheduled date and will not send extra funds to meet any missed payments.

    Thanks
    Tara

    Hi ckiwi,

We've looked into this further and have some more information on the standing order process.

At present, if a standing order, due on a working day is not paid due to insufficient funds, we will re-try that payment first thing the next working day. The only exception to this is standing orders to loans or term loans. If the standing order is not paid on the due date, due to insufficient funds, we will re-try five additional times over the following five working days.

    We hope this helps.

    Thanks
    Tara

    Good Afternoon ashieryan,

Thanks for posting and welcome to Boards.ie. Our procedures have changed since the above post. The standing order will be presented for first thing in the morning (around midnight) and then again in the afternoon around 3 or four, so please check your account later today. If the funds are not in the account for this presentation it will try one final time tonight around midnight. It will not attempt again after this though.

If none of this happens though, you can add your landlord as a payee and manually transfer the funds they will be in your landlords AIB account by Tuesday.

Thanks, and please let me know if there are any other queries you may have?

    Evie
