I have a choice of a house I like in Leixlip and one I equally like in Naas for my new home. I cant decide and wonder how people living in these areas feel about them.

    They are quite far apart.
It depends on where you work.
Naas has more facilities but Leixlip has the train.

This. Leixlip would be considered part of greater Dublin for a lot of things.

IMO that is probably the only thing Leixlip has over Naas and that it has much easier access to the city centre

A lot could depend aswell on the specific places where each houses are located

Can you shed more light for us? I've been in Naas almost 18yrs so can give a good opinion of the location...

If looking at Leixlip, would Maynooth be an option? I think in general it is considered a better town to live in

I've lived in Naas, Celbridge and Maynooth, not in Leixlip though. Maynooth is a lovely town to live in, the two big downsides would be traffic and there's a lot of student estates so you need to be careful where you pick.

With Naas vs Leixlip, if you are in and out to city center a lot Leixlip is definitely a lot closer to Dublin, bus, train and an easy enough drive in. Naas is a bit further out and the nearest train in Sallins goes to Heuston so if you need to go further in that wouldn't be ideal. There is a regular bus eireann service that's about 10 quid return. It drops you at O'Connell bridge or there's one to Stephens green. It takes about an hour. Naas town is more lively than Leixlip town if you plan to stay local for your socializing, also your only 20 minute drive to the base of the Wicklow mountains if that's your thing. Suppose it really depends. If you like and need to be in city center I'd go for Leixlip, if you prefer to stay local and like the outdoors go with Naas. I'd say Naas is a nicer town too if that counts for anything but as I said I've never lived in Leixlip so could be biased there.

Thank you for all the replies. For now I work in Dublin 12 and have some family in Leopardstown. I also have family in Naas and in Leixlip. I don't socialise much so that isn't a problem for me. I cant afford to live in Dublin near the family member but I can afford both naas and leixlip. both family members that live in leixlip and naas highly recommend both places.

Moved to Leixlip years ago, really love the place. Very friendly and decent transport links to Dublin too.
