TCD Language Requirement

Purely out of interest, is it possible to have Trinity's language requirement on the LC waived even if you don't have a disability? Let's imagine you had aquired 625 points and had some kind of what US colleges call a "hook" - say membership of an olympiad team.

N.B. I was unsure whether to post this in the TCD forum or LC. Since it had to do with the LC I decided here. Apologies if mistakes were made.

To be considered for admission to a degree course at the
    University you must:
    - Present six subjects, three of which must be at grade C
or above on higher Leaving Certificate papers or at least
grade C in the University matriculation examination.

The six subjects above must include:
    - A pass in English.
    - A pass in mathematics (or foundation-level mathematics
(see note 2)) and a pass in a language other than English
    OR
    - A pass in Latin and a pass in a subject other than a
    language

    In short, no.

No but are you saying you don't do Irish or a foreign language?

Anyone who is capable of getting 625 points should be doing languages (except for repeat students of course who have already matriculated). Waivers are only granted for students who are not capable of doing languages.

No, the only way to get a waiver is through a disability. Although I don't agree that greeting high points automatically means that you should be able to do a language.

You only need to pass Maths, English and any language at OL. Unless you have some sort of learning disability, it's definitely doable.
