    Hi Michael1968,

    Thanks for your post.

Our Appliance Calculator calculates usage costs over a typical billing period (i.e. 61-day cycle) - it includes VAT in these calculations but doesn't factor in standing charges or the PSO levy (you can find out what these charges are here in the View Prices section).

In general, the Appliance Calculator can be used to:
    • Estimate how much your home electrical appliances and lights cost to run
    • Compare the cost of using appliances in different ways (e.g. washing clothes at 40 °C versus 60 °C)
    • See the positive impact of using your appliances wisely (e.g. using a small ring on your stovetop versus a larger one)

If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to ask.

    Regards,
    David

    Hi Charlie Charolais,

    Thanks for getting in touch.

Oil boiler does not appear to be listed on the Electric Ireland Appliance Calculator - here is the section where calculations can be made.
I have selected "Water Heating" to the left, and the dropdown to the right does not appear to include oil boiler, if you perhaps checked with the manufacturer? Or maybe check if the KWH is indicated on the appliance. With this information, you may be able to carry out a calculation using the criteria on the Appliance Calculator for any boiler as your cue.

Just generally speaking: power-rating and duration of daily usage of the appliance would be the factors to take into account, size of the premises would not be required (even for a space-heating calculation - although a large premises will likely require more space-heating but it depends on the individual premises and whether radiators are switched off or on, how many rooms are used, whether there are storage heaters etc).
The Electric Ireland electricity unit rate is 18.83 cent per unit for a 24-hour meter, and 20.11 cent (day) 9.94 cent (night) for a day/night (NightSaver) meter). Just to note: a consumption calculation would not take into account recurring bill charges such as standing charge, government PSO levy, VAT.
The unit rates quoted above are the standard ones also, and do not include discounts for direct debit, online billing and/or dual fuel.

    Regards,
    Una
