Illness benefit and resigning

    Hi Guys,

Any advice would be grateful. I am at present on illness benefit and have been for 3 months due to stress and anxiety, this is mainly due to my job. I have attended my GP regularly and I'm now attending a counsellor on a weekly basis. I don't feel I will be able to return to this particular job and feel trapped. If I inform my employer I won't be returning to work will I lose my illness benefit?, also would I need to inform the social welfare that I have given my resignation. Want to try do things right, don't want it to come back and bite me at a later stage. Thanks

You wont lose your illness benefit if you resign from you job.
