Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So I had the front of the bandit stripped to do fork seals, brakes and broken manifold bolts, put it back together and noticed one of the springs from the oil lock pieces from one of the forks on the bench. So, is it vital that it goes back in and if so, how do I figure which fork to strip?

YES, the coiled spring has a job to do in the fork.
Just open up the big nut at the top of each fork to check.
No need to take the forks off the bike.
Keep a press down on the big nut while opening to hold the spring load and the nut will not take off in to orbit.

Thanks LBY, but it's not the fork spring or the small rebound spring at the bottom, it's a 1inch spring that sits around the oil lock piece in the very bottom of the fork. Its such a weak spring that I doubt it does much, maybe only as a guide for the lock piece.

They didn't put it in the bike for the craic, no matter how insignificant you think it is it needs to be put back.

I was hoping for a "it's only there for decoration" type reply.. Ah well, back to the shed !
