Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Race Control have declared the 5 as not classified.

    Heartbreaking.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,695 ✭✭✭TheChrisD

    10.15 Conditions for classifications
To be classified, a car must:
    d) When 75 % of the time of the race has elapsed: at least 50 %
of the distance achieved by the car leading the race under pain of
    exclusion;
    e) Taking the last lap in a time inferior to 6 minutes (start/finish
line-start/finish line or pit exit loop-start/finish line), except in case
of "force majeure" at Stewards’ discretion.
It is forbidden to stop on the track to wait for the presentation of
    the chequered flag.

#5's last lap was 11:53.815. It makes one wonder what if Kazuki had stopped the car before the line, crawled over before Porsche took the chequered, and then proceeded to do the final lap at half power?

Maybe it's just a sense of deflation after that race but the F1 seems so soulless after it.

I'm a die hard Audi fan...but that was hard to watch. Gutted for Toyota!!
On another note, what an achievement by Frédéric Sausset, a truly inspirational person and everyone involved in that project should rightly be proud.

It was very appropriate that he ended up giving a lift home to that useless spoiled child Taittinger, she has no business near a motor race.

Any idea what went wrong with the Toyota, it seemed like some sort of electrical / computer meltdown, no visible signs of the engine letting go or anything like that.

    turbo failure according to twitter

edit: apparently Toyota, Audi and Porsche's turbos are made by the same company Garret

Ford have protested the 82 Ferrari, and Ferrari & Aston Martin have protested Ford in retaliation (for breaching the performance window between LMP2 and GTE)

Time penalty for the Ferrari, but conveniently an identical penalty for the 3rd place Ford (for ignoring yellow flags). So no change to the finishing order.

Nice, a fair outcome, despite the ridiculous call during the race.

Today's race Nurburgring was live on Bt sports 2Hd , ment to post up about this the other day.
First time a full wec race was live on Bt sports anyway , hopefully more to come. Highlights Thursday at 7.

Good race too. Mostly listened to it on the radio though as I was travelling. Caught the highlights after though.
Scary fire for the #67 and some great action between the #2 and the Audi pair.

Major drama ahead of the 24h of Spa, all of the Mercedes in positions one to six on the grid have had their qualifying laps cancelled and have been given a 5 minute stop and hold penalty for using dodgy engine maps

Traffics a bit mad in the Mexico race

I think it'll get messy if the expected rain arrives. Very twisty track.

    Short track also doesn't help.

Busy pit lane busy with the full course yellow

I'd be surprised if Dumas gets away with that.

Are both part of the VW group so two teams make no sense.

That was fantastic. Was the closest finish in a WEC race too(, in P2 as well I think).

    Thats a real shame.

I'll miss them on the grid for sure.

Not the most exciting race to finish the championship, but probably the best possible podium. Pity the Toyotas weren't more competitive and pushed the #2 more.

Anyone else been paying attention to the Daytona 24 Hours this weekend?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,252 ✭✭✭Sterling Archer

Toyota to enter three cars at Le Mans this year. Excellent news :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,506 ✭✭✭Killinator

    Great stuff.
Can imagine last year's finish is still very fresh in the memory. They'll be desperate to win especially now that Audi are gone.

Yea, but only 6 cars total in LMP1 😑

Perhaps the ACO need to look into doing something like IMSA did in making LMP2 the primary prototype class.

Takes a lot of the fun out of it when it's a two horse race.

Had it for a long time with Audi and Peugeot and it was produced some amazing races, 2011 in particular.

P2 and GT should be pretty awesome this year pity not to see Murphy prototypes on the list though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,868 ✭✭✭donspeekinglesh

I don't know what Murphy's plans are. They're not even doing ELMS. And they changed their Facebook page from Murphy Prototypes to Murphy Motorsport.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,506 ✭✭✭Killinator

It's very disappointing. Heading back over for LM this year and was hoping to meet up with Murphy's as we have done previous years over there.
There was talk of a WEC season a while back, that's clearly fallen through.
Wonder what's happened, was nervous when they changed the name recently.
