Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yes. The flywheel system on the Audi is very noticeable against the quiet diesel engine.

So Nissan seem to have called it quits for this years program and pulled from the remaining races.

Not sure how well this bodes for 2016.

Wow, not sure how they'll manage to put a positive spin on this one, but I'm sure they'll try.

They'll be back for the last 2 racer of the year.
The revised plan is for the radical front-engine LMP1-Hybrid prototypes to return for the final two races on the FIA WEC calendar in China (Nov. 1) and Bahrain (Nov. 21).

Only saw bits of the race (and even fewer green flag laps) but that was some driving, and a fantastic result.

Fairly average Bathurst this year. Was worth watching but nothing super exciting about it compared to the previous couple.

Anyone any idea why "MT Panarama Bathurst 200" was written on the mountain instead of 1000?

Watched a bit of the start of race and a bit of the end... didn't really get into it. They do really fly around the circuit

Nissan have just taken delivery of a revamped hybrid powertrain courtesy of Renault, which should be ready for testing by next February. http://sportscar365.com/lemans/wec/news-notes-roundup-12-9/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,868 ✭✭✭donspeekinglesh

    Sticking with diesel.

Interesting, should be a mega fast car.

Honestly believe these are the true marvels of the motorsport world (LMP1 cars).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,951 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

So Nissan have binned the LMP1 project. That's that.

And that's the end of that chapter. Reminds me of the series you would read on f1rejects.com

That's disappointing to say the least, it was just too much of a gamble with too much that could and did go wrong.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,397 ✭✭✭✭Ghost Train

Sorry to hear that. They really seemed to have support and interest from fans and from a marketing point of view I would have thought it was something that really put Nissan out there. Was the car just never going to be able to complete so it came time to shut it down?

I wonder does Renault getting back into F1 yesterday have any impact on Nissan... can't see why it would, Renault owns big chunk of Nissan but no cross over between the two in terms of racing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,506 ✭✭✭Killinator

They won themselves alot of fans over the last year despite the cars poor performance but that has more or less been undone by the appalling way they've treated staff since they decided to stop the program.
Shame for Darren Cox, sound guy who was never afraid to engage and answer questions that all that hard work winning people over has gone down the drain.

Boy am I glad this is the last year for the Daytona Prototypes... Out-dated, antiquated, slow-ass cheese wedges.

Was waiting for the Honda engine to blow up tbh, i dared not dream of an LMP2 winning and Pipo Derani was superb.

Delighted to see Damian Faulkner on the podium in GTD how he hasn't been picked up by a manufacturer is beyond me.

Great to see the P2 win, and great finishes in GTLM and GTD.

Gutted for the Deltawing squad, they were having a fantastic run before the crash. Which should never have happened, the SC should have been called well before that.

Toyota going with a new livery scheme. Can't deny but its great looking, but loved the stricking blue. It'll be all red, white and black now in LMP1.
Should note this is the TS040, not the TSO50, Toyota just want to give a taste of its new appearance.

I hope Toyota will start winning races again this year following the disappointing season they had last year in the WEC.
