    Liverpool leaked line up

Mignolet, Emre Can, Skrtel, Sakho, Markovic, Lucas, Henderson, Moreno, Coutinho, Sterling, Borini.

Soccerway lists the following as injured

    Villa - C. Herd/R. Vlaar/L. Kozák/C. Clark/P. Senderos
    Liverpool - A. Lallana/B. Jones/J. Allen/J. Flanagan

Lallana might make the starting 11 or bench.

Liverpool have recalled winger Jordon Ibe, he could be on the bench if Lallana isn't.

    Form guide last 6

    Villa LDDLDL
    Liverpool - WDWWDL

Villa have scored 11 times all season and of them 7 are at home but they have only leaked 11 so it could be very tight.

Benteke always has a stormer against us I'm dreading it!

The 11 against Villa is a stat just for their home games, I presume?

I have a bad feeling it will end up 0-0, or 1-0 Villa. Liverpool desperately need the win, though.

I feel sorry for Paul Lambert hes under some pressure.

    Liverpool to scrape the win.

    Liverpool will win this comfortably.

Simply a must win, we could be one point behind Arsenal if they lose to city on sunday

    2-1 To the Reds

OG to score at least one.

Perfect line-up with what we have available imo.

Feeling confident enough about this one, but first goal will be crucial

Expect a Villa line up something like

    Guzan
    Hutton Okore Baker Cissoko
    Sanchez Westwood Delph
    Gil / Cole
    Gabby Benteke

The question is if Lambert will take a risk and start Gil but I'd at least expect him on the bench and to get some time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,154 ✭✭✭✭Neil3030

I read on the BBC earlier that Lambert may throw Gil straight in.

/OT, but I can't help but picture this fella when I hear his name!

Yes. Unfortunately we've only scored 11 games all season, home and away. Really need Benteke to start scoring again

Handy win for Villa, and to add insult to injury this will be the 3 points to keep them in the PL next season.

Cleverley has started every game he has been available for unfortunately, hopefully Lambert finally sees some sense though.

He has but we've also not had all 4 of Westwood, Cleverly, Delph and Sanchez fit since Sanchez got up to speed with the PL. If we are picking 3 out of that 4 it's cleverly that looses out for me

    I'd agree with that.
Earlier in the season it was Sanchez who was losing out, if Lambert drops Sanchez again to keep Cleverley in the team then the atmosphere will turn from sour to toxic.

Borini hatrick, followed by two from Benteke and a nervy last 15.

    3-2 Liverpool.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,845 ✭✭✭Hidalgo

A team that can't score hosting a team that can't defend.
1-1 or 1-0 to the Villa.
If I was Lambert I'd try and isolate Benteke on Skrtel as often as possible.

Villa to bag some cash from Liverpool for him.

Liverpool have a great record at Villa Park in recent times. People are mixing up home and away ties with Villa. Villa have lost at home to Liverpool a lot but have a very good record at Anfield.

    Is this on tv?

It's impossible to tell with Villa at the moment. Lambert is trying to keep everything so tight defensively that we've one of the best defensive records in the league, especially outside the top 5. On the flip side we can't score. So almost all recent games have been tight, negative games and Villa haven't won a game yet this season by more than 1 goal.

So expect the same, tight negative game with 1 goal probably enough to win it.

Which means of course it'll finish 7-6 with 5 sendings off.

Villa have a solid defence this year, Liverpool dont. Just on that alone i see a villa win.

First goal vital. If we get an early one we might get a few but if ye score first I think we'll have a lot of trouble breaking ye down and ye will win.

Stat Attack - Liverpool have not lost a match from a winning position at HT in 65 games. The problem is that the converse of that is also largely true.

XI del #Liverpool: Mignolet, Can, Skrtel, Sakho, Markovic, Moreno, Lucas, Henderson, Sterling, Coutinho, Borini

Liverpool subs: Ward, Enrique, Lambert, Manquillo, Lallana, Ibe, Williams

Jordan Williams getting another glimpse of the first team

    As leaked on Thursday:

    Confirmed Liverpool starting XI

Guzan, Hutton, Okore, Baker, Cissokho, Sanchez, Westwood, Delph, Cleverley, Agbonlahor, Benteke.

1st time Westwood, Celverly, Sanchez and Delph have all played. Will be curious to see how they line up, will it be diamond with Celverly playing ACM or 3 across the centre, possibly even 4-1-4-1 with Gabby on left

edit: Subs: Given, Lowton, N'Zogbia, Gil, BAcuna, Weimann, Richardson

If Liverpool lose to a team with Tom Cleverly in it they won't deserve to win the title.

Villa are not very good but they've been a bit of a bogey side for Liverpool over the past few seasons. Tough game today.

The lack of width on that Villa team is astounding really. 4 central midfielders, could it be anymore a 'Lambert' team?

Borini and Ballotelli switching positions in the non scoring striker role. Earlier in the season Borini couldn't even make the match day squad. Ballotelli now operating in that role.

Maybe, just maybe Cleverley or Delph will be pushed right up. Otherwise Benteke and Agbonlahor will never see the ball.
