Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Moving to Dublin Region with the Bike

    Well lads,

Recently started working in Dublin and am already frustrated with traffic...
Needless to say I am now looking to do the commute on my bike instead.

I know this is a bit of a broad question but I am looking to move to an area which is relatively safe for keeping a bike. It might be easier to maybe ask which areas should I most definitely avoid? (I realise no area will ever be 100% safe in terms of bike theft)

I know if they want it they will get it but I am just very paranoid/worried about leaving it outside an apartment overnight or worse still on the street - this is probably because at home (where its safely stored at the moment) its well locked up in a garage with 2 Rottweilers on duty. Plus the fact its in the back arse of nowhere also helps.

Obviously I will take all the necessary security measures, chains/disc locks/cover to keep it out of sight if/when I do bring it up. (I should also mention here that I will be renting so more than likely a ground anchor or, ideally, bringing it indoors would not be an option. I guess its just all the horror stories about bikes being robbed (especially in and around the Dublin region) that makes me reluctant to move it up, although I would love to have it here with me to make the commute that bit easier and even for the weekend spins too!

    Any thoughts?

    Hi!

I live in Tallaght, which I guess would be considered a high risk area for theft. But I've had no problems yet. I keep the bike out of sight. Around the back garden through two locked gates.

Out of sight, out of mind.

    Same here.

Good reliable chain and a ground anchor and disk lock. Sorted! I've an Almax 19mm chain
